我遇到一位来自古老大地的游子
他说—— “两根巨大没有躯干的石腿
矗立在沙漠中....... 在它们近处,沙子中,
半埋着一张破碎的脸容,它不悦
皱起的唇,冷冷君临的蔑视,
表明它的雕塑者洞悉
这些依然残存的情绪,铭刻于这无生命之物,
那曾嘲弄它们的手,曾生养它们的心;
而在基座上,显露这样的话:
我的名字是奥兹曼迪亚斯,王中之王;
看我的功业!多么强大,多少沮丧!
除此,别无所存。
绕过那庞大残骸的败迹,无边无际,荒凉
孤独而平缓的沙漠伸向远方之远……”
