史蒂文斯诗言录
几年前读史蒂文斯时,陆续在豆瓣广播上发了很多他的诗言,一直挖不出来。昨天想了个办法,找到了一小部分。看看今后陆续还能找到不。
Wallace Stevens: We never arrive intellectually. But emotionally we arrive constantly (as in poetry, happiness, high mountains, vistas).
Wallace Stevens: the world is myself. Life is myself.
Wallace Stevens: the poet is a stronger life
Wallace Stevens: it is manner that becomes stale
Wallace Stevens: life is not people and scene but thought and feeling
Wallace Stevens: realism is a corruption of reality.
One is always writing about two things at the same time in poetry and it is this that produces the tension characteristic of poetry. One is the true subject and the other is the poetry of the subject. The difficulty of sticking to the true subject, when it is the poetry of the subject that is paramount in one's mind, need only be mentioned to be understood. In a poet who makes the true subject paramount and who merely emblishes it, the subject is consttant and the development orderly. If the poetry of the subject is paramount, the true subject is not constant nor its development orderly. This is true in the case of Proust and Joyce, for example, in modern prose.
Wallace Stevens: Manner is something that has not yet been disengaged adequately. It does not mean style;
Wallace Stevens: Poetry is not a personal matter. Poetry is a means of redemption. Sentimantality is a failur of feeling.
Wallace Stevens: There is nothing beautiful in life except life.
Wallace Stevens: The poet must come at least as themiraculous beast and, at his best, as the miraculous man.
Wallace Stevens: Poetry is a health. Poetry is a cure of the mind.
Wallace Stevens: Unless life is ineresting, there is nothing left (or, unless life is made interesting).
