读书札记之《三体》

《三体》（三部曲第一部）中英文版对比： 中文版：小32开，302页 英文版：大32开，416页 英文版对中文版的章节顺序做了调整，文字上也有所取舍。有时候英文胜于中文，如189页： 但那少女闪电般冲过来，旁人还没明白怎么回事，她已经用一条看上去如春藤般柔软的玉臂夹住了潘寒的脖颈…… but the young woman dashed quicker than the eye could follow. Before anyone could react, she wrapped one of her slender arms around Pan's neck… slender arms 要胜于“看上去如春藤般柔软的玉臂”。“酥胸”、“玉臂”这些被鸳鸯蝴蝶派说烂了的词藻，在科幻小说中出现，没什么意思的。而英文 slender arms（细长的胳膊），简单明了。 但有时候翻译为英文似乎没有了原文的气势。如199页： 叶文洁不知道，就在这时，地球文明向太空发出的第一声能够被听到的啼鸣，已经以太阳为中心，以光速飞向整个宇宙。恒星级功率的强劲电波，如磅礴的海潮，此时越过了木星轨道。 Ye didn't know that at that moment, the first cry that could be heard in space from civilization on Earth was already spreading out from the sun to the universe at the speed of light. A star-powered radio wave, like a majestic tide, had already crossed the orbit of Jupiter. 原文句子短，念起来有一种“磅礴的”气势。翻译为英文后，句子变得很长，气势没了。另外，majestic 换成 awe-inspiring，会不会更好？majestic 更多的是一种“庄严的”意味，awe-inspiring 更强调一种“令人敬畏的”力量，似乎与“磅礴的”海潮更为契合。
