赵俊皓个人项目丨Zhao Junhao's Solo Exhibition

In 2023, artist Zhao Junhao held two solo exhibitions in Seoul, South Korea, titled “性本爱丘山” and “Shape of Energy”. The works displayed at this edition of the Seoul International Sculpture Festa are a continuation of the artist's solo exhibition ‘Shape of Energy’.
The artist believes there is a profound intrinsic relationship between Eastern philosophy and the view of nature. In Eastern philosophy, humans and nature are seen as an inseparable whole, with nature viewed as a complex, organic life system, and humans as part of nature. This view emphasizes the interaction and dependency between humans and nature, advocating for a respectful and harmonious coexistence with nature, and seeking inspiration and enlightenment within nature's rhythms and cycles. In recent years, the artist's direction has focused on visualizing the intangible essence of nature. The works in this exhibition appear to visualize the fluctuations and wavelengths on the water's surface but are actually exploring the concept of "气," an energy concept inherent in Eastern traditions.
Through the visualization of fluctuations, the artwork reveals the dynamics and fluidity within social structures. Sociology typically views social structures as relatively stable and orderly; however, the artist symbolizes continuous change and dynamic flow even within the most stable social structures through the symbolism of waves in sculpture. This approach not only presents the physical aspects of society but also delves into the underlying energy and power dynamics. Additionally, the work explores the flow and change of energy in interpersonal relationships, which are a crucial part of social structures. Relationships, like waves, can be calm or turbulent. By sculpting waves, the emotional and energy exchanges within interpersonal relationships are symbolized, showcasing their complexity and variability. This feature indicates that the fluctuations in the artwork symbolize not just physical phenomena but also metaphorically represent the flow of emotions and energy in human interactions.
