Indolent: 懒惰的;懒散的意思。
exultant: 欢欣鼓舞的。比如写they are exultant over the the discovery. 或者写 an exultant fan. 激动的粉丝也可以写成pumped-up fans. 如果说的是很惊讶的粉丝，这里的惊讶能用shell-shocked。如果说的是不满的粉丝，这里不满的用aggrieved. 如果说的是精力充沛的，那用feisty.
Saturnine: 阴沉的. 比如写the girl told the press that she wouldn't want to touch base with a saturnine man like him. 这里也能用sullen或者morose.
Preamble: 固定的用法是without preamble: 意思是直白的。没有开场白。
Harrumph: 有表示不同意的意思。
Yammer: 抱怨。还能用bleat about.
Squeamish: 易心烦意乱的。
Quest: 追求探索. 一般都是写in his quest to 。。。
Attune: Attune to的意思是习惯于。比如写the CEO is not attuned to leading a new team that consists of some tough-cookies.
Inure: 使习惯于. 比如写the CEO has inured himself to criticism.
Obscurantist: 这个能用来形容一个喜欢混淆视听崇拜蒙昧主义的人。
Obtuse: 迟钝, 愚蠢的。这里也能用dense. 如果是的是一个不成熟的plan, 不成熟的英文能用half-baked.
Pell-mell: 杂乱的,匆忙的;
Po-faced: 一本正经的.
Poleaxe: 吃惊. 如果写的是气馁，这里能用gut。在英国英语中I'm gutted by his reluctance to work for me的意思等于I'm disheartened by his reluctance to work for me.

Gravel: 困惑。
Rebarbative: 令人讨厌的. 经济学人杂志估计会用grotty.
Bloviate: 夸夸其谈。
Execrable: 拙劣的。Ropy也有差的意思。
Egregious: 极糟的。
Hugger-mugger: 秘密的
Pernickety: 挑剔。比如写the scribe is pernickey about neatness.
