布雷拉画廊于1809年由拿破仑一世创办,是意大利绘画最重要的收藏地之一。整个画廊共分40室,藏品跨越15-20世纪,以文艺复兴时期及巴洛克时期的绘画作品为主,体现了整个意大利的艺术发展历史。想感受北部意大利文艺复兴的艺术气息,这里著名的藏品有:拉斐尔的《圣母订婚》Raphael<the betrothal of the virgin>、曼特尼亚的《哀悼基督》 Mantegha <Cristo morto>、海耶兹的《吻》Hayez <The kiss>、丁托列托的《圣马可的奇迹》 Tintoretto <The Miracle of St MarkFreeing the Slave >、卡拉瓦乔《以马忤斯的晚餐》 Caravaggio <The Supper at Emmaus >等等。

Some relevant issues: original project by Vittorio Gregotti, 1983 ( Raphael Room ) and 1990-92 ( Napoleonic Rooms ); experiments to enhance the experience of Mantegna’s painting Cristo Morto (Ermanno Olmi and the painting as object for worship, 2009-2012); the renovation of lighting system from zenithal light to direct light ( James Bradburne, 2016-2019 ) .
7. Piero della Francesca, Donato Bramante, Raffaello Sanzio. A hall for three masterpieces
Some important issues: designed by Vittorio Gregotti and Antonio Citterio (1983). The language of display is minimal, with light-grey walls and only three masterpieces. The light above, recall the egg in the painting of Piero della Francesca (Pala Brera)

Some important issues: The first who considered Palazzo Citterio as a possibility to enlarge the spaces for the gallery was Franco Russoli, director of Brera between 1973 and 1977.
The project has had many stop-and-go since the first Nineties of XX Century.
The building will host the collection of contemporary art, spaces for temporary exhibitions and a restaurant.
