Ghana's coronavirus case count has increased to 1,154 with 120 recoveries, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

This was disclosed by the Director-General at the GHS, Dr. Patrick Aboagye at a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, April 22.

The development means that 112 new cases and 21 recoveries have been confirmed since Sunday, April 19 when President Nana Akufo-Addo addressed the country.

According to the Ghana Health Service, "Total samples tested so far now stands at 68,591 with 1.52 % testing positive. The results of these backlog of samples when released does not mean the number of new cases recorded on the day of the report. Regions that have reported cases remain the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, Northern, Volta, Upper East, Upper West, Central, Western and North East regions."

目前为止，1021例现有患者状况良好，只有1名处于危重，正在使用呼吸机治疗中。

So far, a total of 1,021 are said to be responding well to treatment with only one in critical condition, on a ventilator.

Eighty-two at the Ga East Municipal Hospital, the country’s biggest coronavirus treatment centre, are part of the recovered patients announced by Dr Kuma-Aboagye.

Seventeen of the 120 were at the University if Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) and three were at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.

Govt delays in updating Coronavirus figures creating mistrust– CDD

（政府更细新冠肺炎数据不及时导致CDD产生疑虑）

一名民主发展中心研究人员向政府抱怨新冠肺炎的数据更新没有及时的向加纳人民公开。

A research fellow with the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) has bemoaned government’s delay in updating Ghanaians with current figures of COVID-19 in the country.

根据 Kwame Sarpong Asiedu说，数据更新不及时会导致公众对政府的质疑（猜忌）。

According to Kwame Sarpong Asiedu, the practice has the tendency to increase public mistrust and suspicion for government.

“Since Kumasi had their press conference today, we are going clear 4,5, 6 hours of delays, What is preventing them from telling us what the current data in Accra, Tamale and other places are. When you do things like that you subject the entire data to mistrust and that does not urger well for society in times like these,” he told Starr News Tuesday.

It comes hours after the Health directorate in the Ashanti region updated its numbers of COVID-19 cases in the region. The Eastern region has also updated its numbers since Monday. Both updates have not been captured in the national figures on the website of the Ghana Health Service. No explanation has been offered for the delay.

Chinese dies after retaliatory attack by irate youth

一名中国人死亡，另外两名幸存但有不同程度受伤。据称他们是在阿散蒂地区的 Bosome Freho被当地的一些愤青袭击的。

One Chinese died, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries when they were allegedly attacked by some irate youth of Nsuem Number Two in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region.

经确认，死者44岁，李道鹏（音译），不过，其他两名受伤者具体信息暂时未知。

The deceased has been identified as Li Dao Peng, 44. However, the names of the other two were not immediately known.

The incident happened on Wednesday, April 16.

Some eyewitness account had it that the violent attack was in response to a latest accident at a mining site that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy who had gone in search of gold dust with his colleagues.

The youth, who claimed the site was being mined illegally by the foreigners, were said to have besieged their home and attacked them.

He was later referred to the Asiwa Health Centre, but was referred again to the Atasamanso Hospital for further treatment and was pronounced dead at about 6:00pm.

Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, says about 15,000 people may die from the deadly coronavirus based on a model generated for the infectious disease in Ghana.

This revelation comes after President Akufo-Addo on Sunday, April 19, 2020, lifted the partial lockdown in Greater Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Greater Kumasi.

Dr Nsiah-Asare in an interview indicated that 10% of the Ghanaian population may probably test positive for the virus before the country’s case count on coronavirus gets to the peak of the infection.

He also noted that out of the 10% of Ghanaians who are likely to contract the disease, a lot of the cases are likely to be asymptomatic.

加纳一共有约3千万人口，10%就是300万，也就是说最终将会有300万人被感染病毒

With Ghana having a population of about 30 million people, 10% of this population is 3,000,000. Meaning, 3,000,000 Ghanaians may contract the virus.

在预测的感染人中的300万人里将有5%的人为危重患者，大约有15万人。

5% of the projected three million infections falling seriously sick means that about 150, 000 will fall within this group.

out of the 150,000 people whose case will be critical, 10% will be fatal; meaning 15,000 deaths will be recorded.

Dr Nsiah-Asare表示，由于病毒的传播是动态的，所以该预测的确诊病例不能作为加纳最终的结果。

Dr Nsiah-Asare, however, noted that a new model of projections may not strictly apply to Ghana due to the dynamics of cases recorded in the country.

“If you look at the cases that we are seeing, the cases that are getting critical are very, very small…it means, we have a situation where this hypothesis may be the case in Ghana,” he highlighted.
