#001 Podcast How Google and Facebook Are Ruining Capitalism, with Luigi Zingales (Ep. 38)

Luigi Zingales是芝加哥大学商学院教授。他提到美国以前的资本主义是one exception，因为即使有inequality存在来提供incentives for people to work hard, 更重要的是存在class mobility来保证talents能被发现。而美国独特的资本主义的基础是competition，即避免monopoly，这种传统可以追溯到1890s出台的anti-trust law。

但互联网企业的发展，其本质是追求monopolistic的。因为要破除垄断，要么两个产品之间的差别比较小，或者产品之间迁移转换成本低使得用户可以同时使用不同的产品。但互联网产品，比如Facebook，因为network集成效应，越多人用，价值越高 - 你的朋友用它，你也更倾向用。还有就是Facebook通过法律等手段在维持自己的垄断地位 - 一个例子就是FB告了一个做软件让用户可以方便切换不同social media账号的startup (Power Ventures)，告它internet hacking （即便在用户consent给了改startup账号密码的情况下）。一系列不成熟的legal regulation也导致了垄断地位的加剧。
