Tide (英文诗歌1首)
At dusk, we crossed the neighborhood towards the sea.
The bay was scattered with brown, whitish shells.
Lights on the island of Howth shimmered,
tinting your hair that blew towards me.
Wet sand seeped through the toes of our sinking feet.
When the bay became familiar,
we sat on the steps descending into water,
murmuring to each other.
Splashes of water galloped from time to time.
Gradually the tide pushed in, claiming the ground under our feet.
We were driven back, step by step,
until the expanse was filled,
until we could retreat no more.
The conversation ended. Silence was everywhere.
It was as cold as your lips were soft.
Water leveled in front of our eyes.
The tide was leaving
the night was returning.
