Book Recommendation: The Inner Game of Stress


If you are looking for a book to help you cope with the daily stress that you encounter, this is the book that you go to. Timothy Gallwey illustrated his principle and technique with abundant real-life stories and examples in a friendly tone and manner, the reading experience is overwhelming. You can pick up the strategies from the book right away and put them into action, the benefits are instant.
From time to time, stressor will always find its way to influence our life in a traumatic way. I have encountered numerous stressful circumstances before, and I felt physically exhausted and mentally burdensome, it felt like a hammer smashing my chest constantly when I was in that moment. Reading this book does help me to cope with similar stressful situation in all kinds of ways, the tools are extremely useful, I will also introduce some of these techniques briefly in the coming passage. Anyway, I have to say, after writing this review, I will probably re-read this book sometime in the near future because it is such a good read. Some people even said this book should be implemented as mandatory reading for all generation, I couldn’t agree more.
The author, Timothy Gallwey, has written a series of books started withThe Inner Game, and this one is the first book that I read. There are three parts in this book. Part one talks about the mechanism of stress: How it was formed, and what effect does stress bring us. Part Two shows us the inner capability and strength that each of us possessed, in order to build up the problem-solving momentum to move on to the part three, which is the Toolbox that we can pick up to deal with our stress issue.

Being your own CEO
Imagine yourself as the CEO of your life, you should first call a meeting of your board of directors and staff, you can decide what the course of your company (which is you). The VPs will be sitting beside you, discussing the topic with you together, such as VP of Popularity, VP of Health, VP of Success, VP of Finance and so on. Listen to their input, but never cede the CEO chair to them, and be the thesole decision-maker.

Life is stressful, I admit it, but that doesn’t mean we should suffer from it. On the contrary, I believe every one of us should enjoy life as a series of challenges, it is not easy, but that’s why it’s worth living. Read the book, use it, and make yourself stronger.
