Mesolithic Britain and Ireland (eds) 第106页: The antler frontlets discovered deposited into the lake edge at Star Carr, which had been clearly been modified in order that they could be worn by humans, were considered by Clark to have been either headdress for use in ritual dances of a shamanistic nature or as devices to aid in hunting…Yet ethnographically, this has been shown to be the case and the photograph reproduced here (下图) shows an Apache hunter actually stalking deer in this way.

The Gods of Prehistoric Man (页数 unknown): Maringer, having studied the imagery of the Upper Palaeolithic period, stated: the conduct of the hunt itself required that the hunter imitate the game; only in this manner could he stalk the timid and fleet-footed beasts and come within shooting distance. But to make the camouflage fully effective, he must to some extent himself become the animal.
鬼使神差,我问,do you speak their languages? 但我们带了相机和眼睛,we were hunting for the truth。

Teddy Bear Patriarchy: Taxidermy in the Garden of Eden, New York City, 1908-1936
