Mad Detective （神探）
This movie came out in 2007 and I missed it for some reason which I cannot think of. A few days ago, I saw the poster of this movie in the cinema, and I was strongly eager to see the movie. So there is no wonder that I was so excited when I got the chance to see the movie today.
After watching it, I felt sort of confused. In fact I do not have a clear idea of what it talks about and what the directors try to tell the audience. Any way, I would like to write down my understanding of the movie.
The mad detective (played by Lau Ching Wan 刘青云) has the talent of telling exactly what kind of characteristics a person possesses, which, in most people's eyes, is unbelievable.The detective has succeeded in investigating a lot of crimes, in his own unique ways, which are considered to be unacceptable and weird. Not until when he presents his retiring boss his own ear, is he defined as mad. One day his former colleague comes to visit him, asking for help from the detective with a complicated case. During the investigation of the case, the talented but mad detective employs his own method and finally finds the criminal. However, he would never expect that his former colleague is also involved in the crime. The movie ends with the tragedy that the talented detective is killed by whom he work together with.
The directors of the movie are Johnnie To ( Do Qinfeng 杜琪峰 ) and Wai Ka Fai (韦家辉). "Mad Detective" reminds me of a recent movie made by To as well, " Sparrow" , which, to be honest, is also beyond my understanding. And I sensed that "Mad Detective" is similar to "Sparrow" in some way, which, from my personal perspective, can be viewed as Director To's style. Both of them are obscure!
By the way, I observed that Lim Xilei（林熙蕾） played in both of these two movies.
