Johanna Quandt, the 83-year-old family matriarch, has held meetings over the years with a host of executives from other companies but has resisted selling down her stake in BMW. According to one industry historian, she rebuffed a 1987 advance from Henry Ford II in this way: “Henry, what would I do with the money?”
