3 FINDINGS
1) Anthropological Perspectives a. Meaning of 'place': the contestation of 'community'; An 'exit' or 'entry' out of the capitalist society (either for those from inside or outside);
Invisible boundaries and borders;
b. Culture of Poverty: 'self-destruction' and 'internalized oppression'.
2) Community Work: issues in the field
a. Immigration, refugees and asylum seekers: ethnic and cultural sustainability and cohesion is necessary and good for health.
b. Mental Health and 'community care' mode: whose responsibility? How to support people have experience of mental health problems?
c. Substances misuses: empathetic, emotional support alongwith specialist services.
d. Loneliness. How the Elderly can be supported.
CONCLUSION
Ultimate goals: to remain their resettlement and reconstruction in both psychological and cultural-political dimensions (although there are obstacles hindering them ).
Whether or not they are a community (or many communities), community building or development is the long-term direction of both the workers and the members themselves.
Insofar as the sense of community has been established, their feelings can be catharsised; their experience can be heard; their 'thin' stories can be enriched.
