Paul Elliman Too much information: interview with Linda Van Deursen and Armand Mevis
In this passage, author talks about the editor's role in designing a book for designer. He feels is hard to involving the editing process, hard to get rid of thing, edit it. But is easy and pleasure to add things, introduce designers, new things. Which I could not agree more, editing other designer's thought is kind of wired and non-logic, if the director of magazine already choose this specific designer, it means the director is admire his or her design already, in that case editing just kind of rewrite, without anything else, while most designers all cultured, maybe they do not really need someone else to help them grammar mistakes. Besides, the original version of the passage could be valuable in most circumstance.
But I do thing editor have something to do, the choosing which designers will introduced in the book is the essence of their work. There are so many new things happen in our world, but choose them and introduce them to a certain group of audience is announcement of taste and perspectives.
