What is Master? What does it take to be Master? And being a dominant?
什么是主人？做主人意味着什么？做S呢？
I used to think I knew the answer when I set out into the community. I was sure of my understanding. But now I know I was wrong. What I've been mistaken about was not my understanding of the two concepts, per se, whatever it was. I was wrong to even compare them as if they were counterparts that could be directly leveled against a same set of standards. They are not.
在我踏进这个圈子的时候，我认为我是知道答案的，而且对于这个答案我曾十分有把握是对的。但现在，我知道我弄错了。我弄错的并不是单纯对这两个概念的理解，无论那个理解是什么。我错在把它们当成同一级别的概念，然后从同一层面来比较它们。而实际上，这是不对的。
Being a dominant is like being in a profession. A computer programmer, a salesperson, a school teacher, whatever. It takes skills, time, attention to the work at hand, even a proper mindset. But once you have them, you're pretty much settled. You accomplish your work, and you are happy.
做S就像从事一种职业。比如程序员，销售，小学老师，等等。从事职业需要技能、时间、对手头工作的专注，乃至一个正确的心态。一旦你具备了这些条件，基本上你就没问题了。你完成你的工作，并从中获得满足。
Being Master, however, first and foremost, is not about any of those things. It's not about anything you do. It's about who you are. It's not a profession. It's a life. It does not only take what you are able to do. No, that is not enough. It takes you.
而做主人，最重要的并不是技能、时间、专注、心态。甚至它跟你做什么都没有关系。它跟你是什么有关。主人不是一个职业，主人是一种生活。做主人所需要的，不仅仅是你会什么——那不够。做主人需要的，是你本身。
And it takes THE slave to be Master.
而且，做主人还需要那个奴。
Yes, THE slave, not a slave. You're not Master if you only dominate a slave. To dominate means you take a slave's submission. You decide what you are going to do with it. You dig in your closet and find whatever you think is appropriate. In other words, you take a slave's submission with what you have in your asset, and give them to your slave.
是的，那个奴。不是一个奴。如果你只是在主宰一个奴，那么你还不是主人。做S就是你拿走一个奴的服从，并决定怎么办。你在你有的和你会的里面找到合适的（然后去做）。换句话说，你拿什么去占有你的奴，是凭着你有什么。
But ultimately you'll have to decide to whom to give YOU. Or, if you find the idea of associating giving and being master unacceptable, think of with what you take a slave's submission: with what you have in your asset, or with you.
但最终，你得决定把你给谁。要是你觉得做主人和给予这两个概念不兼容的话，就想想你用什么去占有奴：用你有的东西，还是用你。
You may choose not to give yourself to anyone. That's perfectly OK. After all, being Master is a choice. And you certainly don't want to give yourself to the wrong person. Still, you will have to make the choice. Choose being dominant all you want. But if you decide you want to be Master, you have to know what Master is.
你可以不把自己给任何人，这没有一点问题。毕竟，做主人只是一种选择。而且，你也不希望把自己交给一个错的人。不过，你总还是得做一个选择。想做S的话尽管做S，但如果你想做主人，就得知道主人是什么。
It is the will to take her inside. To let her know you like you were herself. To trust her so deeply that you are not afraid to put your life on her. To mold her in the image of yourself. To make her think with your mind. To cast away anything in her that's not inherently consistent with you. To make her part of you.
做主人是把奴融入自己。让她了解你就像她了解自己那样。信任她如此之深以致你不怕把生命交给她。以你本人为模子塑造她。让她用你的头脑思考。把她所有的与你有内在冲突的东西都扔掉。让她成为你的一部分。
That's what I now know.
