古典学入门
读David M. Schaps (2011) Handbook for Classical Research (London: Routledge)
这是剑桥古典系对研究生推荐的第一本必读书，以帮助新生了解怎么搞古典学研究以及古典学领域的基本情况。第一部分讲最基本的内容，比如什么是古典学，怎么分阶段研究，怎么弄文献目录，哪里去收集材料，怎么写书评。这部分讲的都是学术常识，但对于新手而言，事实上是最有用的。第二部分讲语言问题，比如怎么用词典，怎么读原文。前面这两部分讲的是方法论。之后开始介绍古典学的分支学科。第三部分讲传统的领域，包括语言学、哲学、历史、文学。这些都是对文字进行阐释的学科。第四部分讲对实物进行研究的学科，包括考古学、迈锡尼研究和钱币学。第五部分讲最难的分支，包括金石学(epigraphy)、纸莎草学(papyrology)、古文字学(palaeography)以及校勘学。第六部分讲古典学相关学科，包括艺术、音乐、科技、宗教、法律等方面的研究。最后第七部分讲古典传统的传承。这里总结一下本书包含的一些有用信息(不完全总结，有待补充）：

本书所有部分都是一个作者写的，实在是非常不容易。因为古典学涵盖的领域如此之广，事实上不可能有人对所有方面都有足够深的了解。作者显然对文学和历史的了解最多，对金石学、纸莎草学和古文字学都有浓厚的兴趣，但其他一些部分能明显反映出作者的欠缺。个人觉得，如果各个部分都由相关领域的专家来写，或许会更好一些。
