touching upon cultures
feeling culture at home is the most unique experience. i start to see lives around me in a longitudinal way. it's all about language's influence and a different set of concepts concerning time and space, life or death, and its' meanings.
probably until an aquaintance is struck by disease or death is so close to a close family member, i haven't realized that life is a floating entity. and when i start to touch upon traditional cantonese ideas of marriage, a previously opaque track starts to emerge in the map of my life. i used to get trapped by the use of Chinese in everyday life. so i tuned myself to the play of Queen's language. now when i renew my little passion for it, the feelings as well as the cultures it entails strike me as so familiar yet so alien. it's true that fan commented that i'm too unchinese, and so western-moulded that it's more than suitable that i should live outside of mainland china. now i see it clearly and see it in a positive way.
