[Book News] American digital public library promised for 2013
The Guardian reports that two million books will be available in an online digital library to rival Google's collection, according to Professor Robert Darnton, who promised the new database would overcome copyright hurdles by next year.
Whether we like it or not, digital books will replace paper books one day, not only for coenvenience and change of our habits but also for the preservation of forests. I hope that the online library can make the digital books available for download and non-commercial distribution; otherwise, its usage will be quite limited.
