When terrorists crashed airliners into the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001, Rick Rescorla was not surprised.
Rescorla was the head of security for the Morgan Stanley Dean Witter offices occupying 44 floors in the WTC's south tower. He mastered the towers' vulnerabilities as few others did.
After terrorists drove a truck bomb into the underground garage in 1993, he was convinced they would try again. Next time, he theorised, they might fly a cargo plane filled with explosives into the towers. He shared his thinking with the authorities, but no one seemed interested.
On the day the planes hit, Rescorla hustled virtually every Dean Witter employee out of the building. He then went back to search for stragglers. That was when the tower collapsed and Rescorla was killed.
二零零一年九月十一日,恐怖主義者駕客機撞向世界貿易中心,當時里克.雷斯科拉並不感到意外。

飛機撞向世貿中心那天,雷施科拉把迪安威特雇員幾乎全部趕到大樓外,然後回去找尋掉隊者。大樓就在這時倒塌。雷施科拉葬身其中。
