A Call from Grandpa
Grandpa just called me before having lunch. 'I call you when I want to.' said he. I asked him what dishes they are having. He got excited, telling me the dishes' names. And then he even got more excited, trying to explain how he has improved with his cuisine skills, in detail how to cook each dish.
And all of a sudden, my eyes welled up with tears, and his words just merged into the background.
After discussing the lunch thing, he said, 'I always want my offsprings to go to the best school, to take the best job, etc. I think I should start working up from myself first. And yesterday I saw that U Cambridge was ranked the 1st in the world, and has been so for a couple of years. So I would suggest you to go there for your postgrad study, since I guess HKU is closely connected to U Cam.'
I told him that his words sounded childish and refuted his point with right four arguments. He said he just wanted to be innocent, like a child. he knows he doesn't know many things on academics.
And yes now I realize that I was being cruel with a senior who is my grandpa. And I regret, 2 minutes after the call ended.
I miss my family back in Jiaxing.
