Project Manager or Analyst ——
There were 2 kinds of alternatives on my future expert career path, project manager’s and analyst’s (or strategist-策略师?). The value of being a project manager is the opportunity to learn to understand the best way to achieve the targets with limited resources. But an analyst or strategist may not be able to appreciate the joy of great breakthroughs in the project management. Often, there is no specific target or measurement in an analysts’ work. An analyst focuses more on the day by day accumulation, trying to build up a profound insight of the whole picture by splicing the fragment information together. One day, you may find your own route by identifying many individual trees and their connections, but you will never reach the end of the forest. After all, a project manager’s favorite question is HOW, the magic question of methodology. An analyst’s favorite question is WHY, a magic question to mechanism. Nietzsche once said:
"He who has a why to live can bear almost any how."
I prefer the fun in the Zen of WHYs. But I still wonder how an analyst can gain more external resources and fortune for himself.
