【20201017大陆卷】Some people think it is good for a country's culture to import better films and shows from other countries while others believe that it is better to make their own films and shows. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

这道题我采取的是折衷的观点，因为进口影视作品和自己拍摄制作本来就不矛盾，让两者同台竞技、百花齐放，受益的是观众。

People have different views on whether a culture can benefit more from importing movies and television programmes or producing their own. I think local and foreign works of art can both positively contribute to the entertainment industry of a certain country.

Those who advocate imports believe that foreign films and shows can boost cultural diversity. Compared with other art forms such as novels, music, operas, those on screen are more vivid, combining sounds and images with a vast application of technologies and special effects. Such realistic works can provide an immersive exotic experience, leaving a strong and lasting impression on moviegoers and television viewers.

However, others believethat it is more important to foster the local screen entertainment industry. For one thing, the film and television industry can boost economic development, creating job opportunities, and selling related merchandise. If a movie or TV show becomes a hit, it will generate huge revenue. Apart from the economic benefits, a huge box-office success can also foster cultural soft power, which facilitates diplomacy. For example, if all the young viewers around the world adore Japanese animated films and programmes, they will certainly take a favourable attitude towards this country.

Asfar as I am concerned, competition is always a good thing for the dynamics of an industry. Therefore, I believe with the introduction of foreign motion pictures and shows, the local screen entertainment industry is forced to increase their innovation and productivity, making itself more competitive and attractive among both local and foreign audiences, who in turn are the largest beneficiaries.
