Vol. 285 Sense of summer
Early summer night in downtown is silent and peaceful.
Back to my childhood, the summer began with the rice seeding and blossom of honeysuckle.
Honeysuckle is one of my favorite flowers, it smells lightly sweet and refreshing. It's difficult to find another smell parallelled to it.
Like I did in childhood, I like to pick some honeysuckle branches and take them back home. Arrange them in a vase or tall bottle and treat them with some water. That's enough for them to prolong the life and continue to release the fragrance.
Some flower buds will blossom over night so that would be more amazing.
Honeysuckle is a famous Chinese herb which can cure lots of illness. In Chinese it is called JinYingHua. Jin means golden, Ying means silver. This is because it's white when blossoms and turns yellow gradually. The white is silver and yellow is golden.
It can be found in the fields, alongside the countryside street, even in your yard.
It's a gentle and close friend of our childhood.
