Work-Life Balance
What is work-life balance?
It is not a balance between work and the other non-work opponents of life. What it is really about is the balance in mind. If you think you are in balance, then you are in balance. In other words, people should feel things are in control.
The most work-life balanced time in my life was in my third year in high school. It is the time when chinese students are pushed hardest in their twevle-year compulsory education. However, that was when I felt most at ease, because the goal was clear, the task was set and the time was on my hand. Everything was on the track. That's the point.
From this perspective, to keep work-life balance is to set a goal and keep the felxibility of the work to keep things under control.
Set a Goal
People without a goal are not able to tell apart dos and don'ts. It is meaningless to say work-life balance when the working part is not set with a goal, since work part is not orgnized without a goal.
Goals tell people their criteria for 'everything in control'.
Flexibility
People should have some control over their schedule. This keeps people feel everything in control.
Work-Life Balance in Work
We can find that choices of both aspects are made by ourselves. This means that we should earn work-life balance rather than ask for it from companies, since none of the components above can be solved by the company.
