Volunteer work organised by middle schools brings more benefit than problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Non-profit activities have been advocated in society in recent years, and many middle schools begin to see volunteer work as a part of education. But whether unpaid work is really beneficial for students who have to take lessons in their schools should be considered.
Volunteer work is the behavior that people devote them in community service regardless of their own benefit. A student who has participated in community activities may have a deeper knowledge about social mechanism while students who only contact classmates and teachers cannot be adapted to social life when into society. Inversely, those who are busy in volunteer work have less time on their lessons, which may directly affect academic performance whereas the experience of unpaid work has less association with entrance exam. In total, it is a controversy between learning tasks and social practices.
In my views, volunteer work should not be compulsory work for students. Some schools asking students to finish given goals on time forget the meaning of volunteer work that community service aims at helping others as well as improving oneself well-being. As far as I am concerned, schools should encourage students to participate in unpaid work by rewarding prizes on mental as positive feedback. Students ought to learn how to manage their time in a degree, and then make time for these beneficial activities. Anyway, a life combining work and learning filled with stories is more fantastic than a rigid and monotony life.
