Every semester, I have to go to the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to grab samples for my students. They are measuring solids in the wastewater sample in lab class. Thus, every Monday of the fourth week of a semester, it is different from other days.

This time I still called Jonson in advance, who is the boss of the WWTP, and he did not answer the phone. At the midday, I dove to WWTP. It usually takes 20 min to get there, and the traffic is good during midday. I can speed up to 70~80 mph, which is really enjoyable, and this is a reward of this fucking every-semester must-be-done duty.

Jonson was not there, but another guy was. It seemed like he knew me. He once helped me with sampling wastewater years ago.

- Student from university taking samples?

- Yes, I just want some raw wastewater sample. btw, Jonson is not here today?

- No, it is holiday today. The President Day.

- Oh, but why you are here?

- There is always wastewater, so we are working on holidays. We even work at weekend.

- Haha, that makes sense.

Then, he drove me to the sampling spot, and took sample for me. His action was really slow. It usually takes me 2 min to finish sampling while he took about 5 min. But we were talking during sampling, so it was fine. Then, he cleaned up the bottle, and drove me back. He said that I might want to get some bleach, so we went to his lab and he got the bottle sterilized. He is really a enthusiastic guy. Then I drove back, not to campus, but to my department.

I planned to take some food, take some sleep, and then head to campus around 4 pm, when I can park near my office. So I ate the instant noodles, and took a nap. Usually, I cannot have a nap on my bed, since I am at office. Every noon I am sleepy, and I think if I have a bed, I must fall asleep fast. Now I am at home, and I can take a nap on my bed. I did so, but I could not fall asleep. Weird.

Around 3:30pm I got up, and took a shower. My roommate’s girlfriend was in the living room wearing a pink shirt. It was holiday so she was working, I guess. Luckily, I wore something after shower. Usually, I ware nothing after shower, walking straightly from bathroom to bedroom. But, anyway, even if she see something, it is not a big deal. I am not a pure-emotional little boy. Then I headed to school, and prepared the lab equipment for Wed's lab.

Surprisingly, there was something wrong with the equipment. I have asked the lab manager to order more SETS of filtration glasses, but she only ordered ONE PART, and it is only two days left. We do not have time to order more. wtf. Anyway, it is partially my fault for I did not check what she purchased as they got delivered. Next time I should not trust her, and I must check everything. OK, let me look for anything I can use from the research lab, like last semester, which is literally a nightmare.

Today I were also working on statistics. The topic was asymptotic evaluation. It talked about Delta-method and Bootstrapping, and it told me that Delta-method is the first-order asymptote, while bootstrapping is second-order. Thus, Delta-method is tend to underestimate variance while Bootstrapping can give a more accurate estimation. This limitation of Delta-method, as well as its derived error-propagation equation, can help me to justify my Bayesian method, which is a good gain.

At night, I went to ecological risk assessment class. Today we were talking about data evaluation, which was a bit boring. After class, I went to ask him if he had read my PhD proposal. He said that he had not looked at yet, but he would give me reply by Friday. Sure, this is not a big deal anyway. Dr. Evans did not reply me yet, either. Maybe I would better start thinking about other professors who is suitable as my committee member.

As I got home, roommate's girlfriend had gone. But she left much food in the fridge for her boyfriend. The food looked delicious but it is NOT mine. The girlfriend was not mine, either. At this very moment, I was hoping that I had a girlfriend. However, as long as I got started to eat fried chicken brought on the way home, the wish of having a girlfriend was fading away.

Today, I watched Princess Principal for two episodes. I really fall in love with this anime, but it is going to be end-watched. Beatrice is so cute. Although a girl is preferred, a Loli is not bad. I would wish they had a happy ending, but since it will have a anime film, the ending is supposed to be unhappy.

L replied me today, and she said that she had trouble with choosing photos sending to me. Anyway.
