Icarus

Icarus, flying into the sun, whose light burned his wings
His father Daedalus warned him of the danger
But utterly bewildered by the beauty of the sun
Icarus risked and sacrificed his life
Icarus, that's me
Flying with the wings of dream
I'm well aware of the misty future ahead of me
And the darkness that might be lying behind it
But I still stubbornly fly
Until that day when my dreams devour me
What would you be then?
Maybe you're Daedalus, giving me the precaution
But my eyes are blinded by the sun
No vision, only distant sounds from your desperate screams
I hear them all but decide to carry on with my will
All the way to the gruesome end of dreams
Dreams, what dreams?
I don't have dreams, I don't need dreams
Even if I do, I won't care
Because I'm flying to the sun,
Which is you
I fly to you, onto you, into you
Crash and burn and die in bliss
Burn me...
No, wait, it's only the wings that got burned
Whereas, I, actually fell into the sea and drowned
I used to fantasize about drowning myself all the time
But I stopped my obsession because I need warmth
I need the warmth that comes from your sunbeams
Even if you will burn me
Even if you have to burn me
I don't even feel the pain
I don't even realize I've lost my wings
I keep flapping vainly my bare weak arms
And finally be pulled back by gravity
Back to the sea, back to where I originally came from
The cold, silent, bottomless sea
What if you are Icarus?
You surely can fly, fly far away, fly up high
What would I be then?
Your wings
That pair of wings which melt in the dazzling light
You throw yourself to some mysterious mission of life
And I support you with my feeble but willful strength
Who knows if the one ahead is a friend or a foe
Who knows if the beautiful prospect of tomorrow
Will turn around and bite you
You'll fall back to the sea as who you are
It's the wings that got cut off
Or maybe the sun doesn't matter
You're just tired of flying
After all, it is an exhausting job
With the weight of your wings
So why not give it all up
Abandon the wings and freely fall
Who knows
You might survive
Icarus, how the sun bewitched you
That even when I see your back, I feel the power of a martyr
You are not an innocent child
You are not an impulsive teenager
You know your fate
You know that ultimate death
But also the sublime pleasure before
And the unavoidability of everything
So you live your life as the way it should be
The wings, the sun, the wind, the sky, the clouds...
They are not you, they can't fly
You take the challenge so you're in charge
You open up your arms so you decide how to fly
Live you life, love your love
Let your atman lead you to where you belong
