The Story of the Three
In the warm ocean around Mediterranean island, Clu feels the present of his grey dorsal and tail fins for the very first time. Just at that moment, he catches a glimpse of a sliver flash not far. “What’s that?” he bubbles. The he twists his butt and pushes himself forward against the stream to take a closer look.
Pei, as always, makes herself invisible in the surrounding and amuses herself by counting pass-by fish quietly.
“Hey, there!” A melodious voice breaks the silence,
Pei remains faceless, pretending that she was not there and didn’t hear anything. But, she feels a nudge in the belly coming from nowhere.
“Sliver head. I’m talking to YOU.”
Pei turns her head around and sees a pair of wide-opened eyes.
“I’m Clu, by the way.”
“I’m Pei.”
“Pi, like π?” Clu giggles.
“No, Pei. P-E-I”
“A GANNET IS COMING!” A piercing cry shakes the entire society. Everyone is fleeing about in all directions.
“Come with ME.” The tuneful voice sounds so firm and calm at present. Pei follows.
In the meantime, Dae, alone in nearby open area, is frozen as an ice cube. Just when the claws of gannet are sliding over the water and approaching Dae, Clu and Pei dash over and bump Dae away.
A sliver gray flash formulates because of the sudden crash. It dazzles the bird and makes this hunt in vain.
“I’m STILL ALIVE!” Dae bursts into tears. “Thank you, people.”
“That’s nothing. I’m Clu, by the way.”
The three young Clupeidae, in a school, migrate along the coast, leaving bright flashes in the dark blue ocean.
