The last store closes at 11pm, and that is when my shift starts. I wear a scratchy collared shirt of some synthetic material, and stiff canvas pants. I wear a walkie-talkie that no-one ever talks to me on, and I clean the mall.
First, there is the little vehicle I drive around that vacuums and mops. I still can't figure out what it's called, and the previous custodian didn't say much during our two-hour training.
Then I hold a wet mop over the left side of the top of the escalator as it runs, and then I hold it over the right side when the chain has completed a loop.
