以下短语和句子均来自托福短语训练。

注解：
usher in意为“开启，迎来”，除此以外还可以用bring in, open up等来表达。
If one thing ushers in another thing, it indicates that the other thing is about to begin.
表示“时期、时代”的单词也有很多，常见的如age, era, epoch, times。其间的区别在于，times侧重于某一特定时期；epoch较正式，侧重于以重大变革为起点的新的历史时期；age侧重于历史时代或时期，常以某种显著的特征或某一杰出人物命名；era是书面用语，指历史上的纪元、年代，可与epoch和age互换。

每一个生肖的背后都有着数不尽的成语、谚语和故事。
注释：
部分贝友对zodiac可能会比较陌生，它的意思是“黄道带”，是占星家用于表示星体位置的图表。在黄道面上约每30度范围内各有一个星座，总计为12个星座，称为“黄道十二宫”。Chinese zodiac则表示中国的12生肖。
an array of最常用的意思是“一大批，一大群”，也可指“陈列，布置”，指物品以某种特定的方式摆放。

coat最常用的意思是外套，也可指动物的皮毛。用作动词的时候，coat something with指给某物涂上、盖上或裹上一层东西。
If you coat something with a substance or in a substance, you cover it with a thin layer of the substance.
I put away the report card in the drawer for fear that Mother should see it.
我把成绩单收进抽屉里，唯恐母亲看到它。

put away指收好，如果是put something away，指“把……收好，放好”。如果说someone is put away，则指“把某人关进监狱”，或“把某人送进精神病院”。
If you put something away, you put it into the place where it is normally kept when it is not being used, for example in a drawer.
If someone is put away, they are sent to prison or to a mental hospital for a long time.
for fear that指“以免，唯恐，以防”，也可以表述为for fear of。除此以外，我们还可以用in case, so as not to, lest等表达法。
If you take a particular course of action for fear ofsomething, you take the action in order to prevent that thing happening.
