Zion
My heart is in the East,
while I am on the edge of the West.
How can I taste my food?
How can it please me?
How can I keep my promise?
How can I fulfill my vow?
I would gladly leave behind me all the treasures of Spain,
to see the dust and ruin of your shrine.
---byJewish Poet Judah Halevi
"In every house they entered, they killed the people inside. The Jaba family, for example, was killed, eight of them. They were killed at the morning while they were still sleeping. They shot them and left."
---by Palestinian survivor
"The conquest of the villege was carried out with great brutality. Whole families---women, children, old people---were killed and piles of corpes accumulated. Some prisoners taken to places of detention inlcuding women and children were brutally murdered by their guards. Among the prisoners were a young mother and her baby. The guard killed the baby in front of its mother, and after she fainted, also murdered her."
