Alex Coles Introduction/Beyond design

 In Beyond design's introduction, Alex Coles talks about "design", “art” and "design-art", the new word "design art " came into being in the late 1990s, Neal Jackson define this word "loosely as ant artwork that attempts to play with the place, function and style of art comming it with architecture, furniture and graphic design" they indicate the arty-looking stuff, Alex thinks some design could be art, if they have arty feeling, some design just a combination of plans. In that case, design lose faith in art. this introduction illustrate the common feeling of most people, that design, compare to art, is in second class. But in my opinion is a representative of rational, while art is a representative of emotional. There is no rank in rational and emotional. Besides, no people could be 100% rational or 100% emotional, so the design-art appears. you can't say rational is better than emotional, or ensure some work is 100% rational or emotional. So the rank or try to distinguish design and art is kind of in vain.
