Word Of The Day
tacit adj. understood, said without words.
Eg: I'll take your silence as a tacit agreement with my suggestion.
plethora n. more than needed, great abundance
Eg:There was a plethora of attractive men at the party, so Helen enjoyed herself very much.
vocation n. one’s profession, the work one really wants to do
Eg:Although she works as a waitress, Emily’s true vocation is acting.
Reported Speech
Reported Speech is also called Indirect Speech. We use reported speech when we talk about the past (because the person who spoke originally spoke in the past). The verbs therefore usually have to be in the past too. For example:
I'm going to visit my friend today.
REPORTED SPEECH: He said he was going to visit his friend that day.
1.I'm tired and I want to go home.
She said she was tired and that she wanted to go home.
2.My car was stolen.
He told me his car had been stolen.
3.We're planning an ad campaign.
They said they were planning an ad campaign.
4.We hadn't planned on staying the night.
They said they hadn't planned on staying the night.
5.We'll be happy to show you arond next week.
They said they would be happy to show us arond the following week.
6.I've made too many phone calls today.
He said he had made too many phone calls that day.
7.I've been elected president.
She said she had been elected president.
8.This is can't be right!
I said that it couldn't be right.
