Unit 1 Reflection
Achievements:
Recognition---
Especially nearly the termination of Unit 1, Both Dave and Sandra reminded us constantly to recognize what your major is so that I could identify what should I do specifically. Actually, it is a kind of methodology which may be the procedure of my work scientifically.
Attention---
Recently, I can concentrate on designing products more than before from Unit 1. I have been perplexed by the other reasons around products, such as to analyze environments(environics), decorations(I have been confused by the differences between art and design for a long time when i contacted with many fine art students and their work.), commerce(Economics), communication(Sociology and Ethics)...These are all included by Industrial Design(Interdisciplinary). However, I should more focus on the interaction between human and products, and my work should have more functionality and must innovation.
Observation&Thinking&Records&Experiments---
Experiments, which is the most important than observing, thinking, recording in my opinion. After recording, I must experiment and feel. For example, If i make a chair I will observe how people sitting on the chair and collecting some data to achieve the best effect. I should experiment by myself, and then the chair should be made.
Sketch book&Mind Map---
It can be a tool which help me to rethinking and clean up my mind and my personal informations. When I begin to do presentation, it can be the most important data. I love do mind map. Mind map can never be finished like growing threes. What is more, my sketch book finally has many beautiful pictures and explanations(I call my sketchbook as METHOD CARDS).
Friendships---
Communicating with many classmates have different backgrounds is very interesting. Everyone has great personality and unique way. Interestingly, Keira and I analyzed the star sign of our classmates involved in rising sign and moon sign, and we found that there have many connections among our classmates. It is fate in legendary.
Confusions:
I am clear what should I do and how should I do. But currently I have not found the places where I can do my crafts. And also the tools where I can use if I do some big models. In addition, about the budget that I have to do some mind map.
I want to have a peer group to communicate in this class. I found that communicating with Anny, Debby and Yun could get more informations and inspirations although their majors are not industrial design(but have some connections).
Preparation:
Data---
The next steps would be making something to be more specific. This process will be very difficult because it will be over and over again. Recording accurate data is very important for me.
Experiments&Rethinking---
In this step, I might become the craftsman. Models and models, Testing and testing, Modifications and modifications. Then, it will be a lot of questions to add in my mind maps and sketchbooks. As a fact, it is excited me to make handcrafts as an adventure that you never know what will be happened.
Continuation---
Identifying my methodology is a approach to continue my new ideas. I will do it unremittingly.
