确实就是动画秀,根据历史把有意思的,有影响的不同类型的片断,短片展映。有一点实物陈列。选片还是有不少有意思和稀有的内容。
从早期电影到早期迪斯尼,到pixar,anime,电脑动画,前卫实验,艺术电影等等。整个秀的设计布局和陈设还不错,那么多的投影可以互不影响。如果通通看下来是要一天功夫。不足之处是说明太少,对于背景啊,技术啊的解释还比较欠缺,当然你可以记下来回去自己搜资料。其实更适合已经对动画历史有些了解的童鞋和老师。小记印象深刻的一些内容。
Quay兄弟的放的是In Absentia, 这部由著名前卫作曲家Stockhausen配乐,更是充满了Quay兄弟的特有黑暗不安之感。原来这个灵感是来自真人真事,一个锁在疯人院的女子用铅笔不停地写情书,直到纸上密密麻麻地涂满了字,让人不寒而栗。
How did In Absentia come about?
It was a film commissioned by the BBC as part of a series called "Sound on Film International," born from the collaborations between musical composer and filmmaker. Each filmmaker was assigned a musical passage which became the starting point for the construction of a short film. We worked on a composition by Karlheinz Stockhausen, "Zwei Paare." The day we listened to the piece for the first time there was a release within us of a torrent of ideas and visual flashes. We then started immediately with the direction of the film without having a real and proper work plan, but developing it as we went along.
In the closing credits we learn that the film was inspired by a real life event...
For the story we based ourselves on the real life event of a woman who was enclosed in a psychiatric hospital, who would write love letters every day to a particular man. The surprising thing is that when Stockhausen saw the film at an avant-premiere he was moved to tears. We only later learned that his mother was imprisoned by the Nazi's in an asylum, where she later died. Even for us this was a very moving moment, especially because we directed the film without knowing any of this.

欢乐一点的是1930年出品列那狐的故事,也展出了些实物木偶。制作者Wladyslaw Starewicz是很有名的木偶动画师,这部动画表情生动,而且配音的也就是瓮声瓮气老式法国片的腔调,更具喜感。这次展览应该是放全片的,没有看完,很想知道那只唱情歌的猫和狐狸斗是怎样的下场。Wes Anderson的狐狸爸爸也是有参考这部片的造型,我应该会花钱买这部的dvd。
Yuri Norstein的收了Tale of Tales 这是他最有名的一部,我觉得比较沉重,我更喜欢的是他的迷雾中的小刺猬,不过运用层层玻璃,再看一遍,效果和技术还是叹为观止。
Walerian Borowczyk的Les Jeux des angles 是Steve最喜欢的动画之一,比较抽象,以前看的版本画质都很差,这次总算是回归本色。
Stefan and Franciszka Themerson的实验动画The eye and the ear很有意思,他们试图用图像来诠释音乐,当然我们现在把这个叫做mtv或者vj,然而这个早期黑白的短片画面非常有诗意。

Alexander Alexeieff的pinboard动画鼻子我也很喜欢,光影的运用很美丽。
电脑动画怎么会少了80年代的Tron?原作看上去要比新版本不知道酷了多少倍。
中国动画也收入了万氏兄弟的铁扇公主。
总之,很多不同媒介的动画,也许有些你已经听说,有些你可能看过,但还是很值得把他们放在一起,尽管数量与不同的种类会让你有审美疲劳,我总觉得巴比肯的展都是让人精疲力竭,至少中间放个让人可以喝茶吃东西的地方吧。
再补记Rabbit, 这个是最近的,以前在onedotzero上有看过,用大家熟悉的儿童读物(课本)的插图来做动画这部算是开了个潮流,我想国内的韩美美这种应该也是受影响的。
