TV prose started to emerge in the 1980s, which then became another TV literary style together with TV fiction, TV poetry, and TV reportage. TV prose takes advantage of the television artistic techniques to reproduce the art features of “Shape Dispersing but Spirit Concentrating”, “Imaging the Big from the Small”, “Feeling and Setting Happily Blended”. TV prose is a kind of literary style based on television which is lyrical and impressionistic.
The DV short film "Farewell, my college" is a practice and exploration of this new literary style. It expresses the features of TV prose by text, images, sound, structure and so on. We have grasped the whole process of the TV prose’s production, and provided detailed descriptions and appropriate solutions of problems and points for attention aroused during the production process.
This paper is an interpretation of the short film "Farewell, my college". This paper describes the whole production process in detail and explores the use of text, footage, audio, and provides the basic idea for TV prose production. At the same time, we’d like to offer some proper guidance for beginners by this production description of the "Farewell, my college".
