Mother-in-laws
Although I have to agree most Chinese mother-in-laws are pretty sick, I mean, let's face it, they are secretly in love with their sons, sexually, I am not saying they are the ones to blame. After all, we are all products of our society. They are victims of this culture which views women as second class citizens for over a thousand years as well. Moreover, honestly, did they really get married out of love? The top priority for them is procreation, and getting married before 25 years old. They didn't care who they married, as long as they got married. Their husband didn't give a shit about them, then it is only natural that they turned to their sons for care and affection. In most cases, being mean to their daughter-in-laws might be the only time that they feel they are in control of something. It is the only occasion that they can demonstrate their little power. Think about it, they are pretty pathetic themselves.
I once asked M, why your mom is so nice, and why you and your mom have such a healthy relationship comparing to Chinese ones? The answer is simple: my mom doesn't live in a sick society.
However, there are always some exceptions. My aunt's former mother-in-law loves her more than her own son, literally speaking. After my aunt got divorced, when the mother-in-law went to US, she would only visit my aunt and totally ignored her own son. She is Chinese, and she is a very tough woman.
So I wonder how strong those exceptions are in a sick society. No doubt those losers' loser mothers are mentally weak. They were manipulated and bullied all their lives, and they can't get a hold of themselves, in the end, they "seek revenge" from a younger generation. Worse more, when those loser mothers are playing "how much I have sacrificed for you" card, the sons will actually let them win. There it goes, a whole new generation of mama's boys without pee-pees who should really just marry their mommies or play with sex dolls for the rest of their lives.
