  This thing that was being born, this mineral thing replacing the wooden log, this disease replacing healthy animal cell.

  此文翻译根本不懂得布雷德伯里文中的上下照应，所以译文中会有这样的句子：

  “那东西正在孕育，矿物质正在取代木质，病菌正在代替正常的细胞。”

  this mineral thing replacing the wooden log 显然是在照应前文中“木化石”的形成过程。
