The great musicians of our time, George Enescu in the van, eulogized the memory of the illustrious pianist, composer, and teacher, Here is what George Enescu wrote, among others, in the Journal des Jeunesses musicales de France （December 13, 1950）.“The fact that Lipatti has left us, is for his friends a sorrow of the heart, for music a loss which will take long to retrieve. He was indeed one of the greatest performers of our time.
“…He hesitated, as I did too, attracted by several callings. For a time I thought he would be a violinist. He studied compsition. Finally he became the wonderful pianist we know. Allow me to say that renown of the performer does not wipe out of my memory the image and promises of the creator. To play an instrument, even to perfection, is an excellent thing. To imagine, to create, to give life to what one imagines is much more, I will never forget a suite for orchestra, which I often conducted, a concertino for piano, and a sonatina for violin…”
