From my perspective, the benefits of reducing the number of school days while extending the number of hours attended per day outweigh its drawbacks. There are two reasons why I feel this way, which I will explain in the following essay.

First of all, although it is true that the extra hours that students need to spend in school each day can be demanding at first, they will soon be able to get used to it can take advantage of the extra day off. This is because students aged from 6 to 18 years old generally have homework assignments to do each way, and if they take these assignments home, they may spend two to three hours each day to complete these assignments, which leave them very few time for other activities. However, if students can spend 90 more minutes per day in school, they can take advantage of the extra time to finish their assignments, and during the process, they can ask their teachers or classmates for help when they encounter problems that they cannot solve independently. By comparison, they would probably have had to spend more time on searching for the correct answer if they were to complete their assignments on their own.

Second, the extra day off that students can have each week would be an excellent opportunity for them to explore their interests. For many students these days, it can be very difficult to make the decision of which subject they should major in college and what career to choose. The reason behind this phenomenon is that few of them spend time on figuring out what they want to do in the future since most of their time is spent on doing homework and participating in student activities. With this extra day off, this will no longer be a problem for them. For example, a high school student can spend the extra day off on participating in volunteering activities in his own community or on a part-time job in fields that interest him. In this way, he will be able to get some real-life experiences, which can help him make a more informed decision regarding which courses to learn and which career to choose.

To conclude, I think it is beneficial to reduce the number of school days per week while extending the number of hours attended per day because this new schedule would encourage students to finish their assignments more efficiently, and it can also help them explore their interests.
