74/365 Palm Sunday

Lent接近尾声，Holy Week今天就开始了，但我身陷斗室，即使不身陷斗室，今年也没有现场的聚会，而是用webcast代替了。在镜头前挥舞着palm leaves，感觉略怪。

不过我读了一下The Gospel of Matthew, 有个新的发现：

"Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them...And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon." (Matthew 21:2-3, 7)

不知道为什么这里要用两只驴 - 其实Mark和Luke都只说到一只 - 似乎Matthew要literally呼应The Book of Zechariah: "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass." (Zechariah 9:9)

看到网上很多人debate为什么要有两只驴，其实这个问题略无聊，两只就两只啊，有一只spare的也不会怎么样…其实我更想知道：

为什么colt是驴？（这个字在绝大多数context里面都是小公马）

顺手八了一下palm是什么palm，原来大概是date palm吧，但是今天在世界各地，人们用各种各样的palm庆祝Palm Sunday，像仪式中使用的蜡烛和酒一样，这些palm leaves也是有vendors的，在热带和亚热带的harvesters辛勤劳作一年，才能在这时候把新鲜的树枝提供给parishes。位于北方的parishes，如果弄不到palm leaves，也可能用别的树枝代替。过完Palm Sunday, vendors还可以提供焚烧palm leaves的一条龙服务（如果parishes自己没有条件烧的话），因为第二年Ash Wednesday的时候用的ashes用的是前一年Palm Sunday的palm烧的灰…
