 Stem < 3 cm tall, 0,5 – 1,5 cm in diameter, rarely branching.

 Leaves rosulate, ascending-spreading, oblanceolate-rhombic, acute, 3 – 9 x 1,5 – 3 cm, grey-green or buff- green, with or without a red margin.
 叶：莲座状排列，向上伸展或摊开；倒披针形-菱形，顶端尖锐，3-9cm长，1.5-3cm宽，灰绿色或浅黄色-绿色，有些有红边，有些没有。
 Inflorescences secund-racemose, unbranched or rarely 2-branched, 20 – 25 cm tall, pedicels ± 1 mm .

 Flowers : Sepals ascending, 9 – 13 mm, corolla conoid to urceolate-campanulate, strongly pentagonal, rose near the base, yellowish-red above, 13 x 15 x 8 mm in diameter ner the base, 5 mm in diameter at the mouth.

 Of interest as the only echeveria native to the USA. It is also one of the more difficult species to cultivate.

 Some populations in Texas and Mexico have red-margined leaves but seem to be uncorrelated geographically.
