夏伟，一位导演界的新星，曾是喜剧、电视剧编剧的他有过《天才妙探》以及《四贱客》等作品。今年，他推出了第一部故事片《纽约客@上海》。 在以往的经历中，他曾获得2012年上海国际电影节最佳编剧奖，2012年洛杉矶亚太电影节最佳新人导演奖。可谓是导演界令人瞩目的一匹黑马。
Daniel Hsia, a new filmmaker, was once the writer of Andy Barker P.I. and Four Kings. He produced a feature this year named Shanghai Calling. He won the Best Writer Award from 2012 Shanghai International Film Festival and the Best New Director Award from 2012 Asian and Pacific Film Festival in LA. Shanghai Calling is a romance with typical Hollywood Style integrating humorous, romantic and mysterious elements. It tells a story about a lawyer from New York. He is sent to Shanghai to work, but is stuck in embarrassment that makes him almost give up the work. During the stay in Shanghai, he meets with an assistant, a Shanghai journalist, a moving specialist and a senior, who give a hand and make him continue the work and seek love. From the style of this film, it is conspicuous that the director uses the American visual angle and prefers Chinese culture. The theme is novel, which brings about a new ‘mixed-taste’ for those who immerse in ‘standard’ Chinese films and foreign films for a long time.
