The musical is based on the 1964 children's novel, by Roald Dahl. A first reading of the first act from the show was carried out in New York in May 2010, with the intention of opening in London the following year.
Officially confirmed on 18 June 2012, producers announced that the show would play the London Palladium from May 2013, with tickets going on sale in October 2012. 去年六月跑去下西区看的，查理的小男孩卡司，实在是有点太可爱了……

我看的这场查理是女孩子，唱法还挺独特的，虽然感觉说话有点像用尽了全身力气，但是唱得非常准！不过旺卡扮演者的唱功有点不稳定。整个下来我最最最喜欢的居然是奥古斯塔斯拿到golden ticket的那段，约德尔唱法好好听好强！！！爱了... 我看的这场查理是女孩子，唱法还挺独特的，虽然感觉说话有点像用尽了全身力气，但是唱得非常准！不过旺卡扮演者的唱功有点不稳定。整个下来我最最最喜欢的居然是奥古斯塔斯拿到golden ticket的那段，约德尔唱法好好听好强！！！爱了 (展开)
