Mercury’s lasts aspect in Aries is to sextile Venus May 3rd. This tactful combination should keep most of us out of verbal trouble. Still though, try not to fuel any flame with inflammatory words. Once Mercury moves into steady Taurus our attentions will turn toward thinking before speaking. Many of us will chill- out sit back and observe before jumping to any conclusion. Mercury’s first aspect is a sextile to Neptune in Pisces May 10. Heed your inner voices. Those who play a hunch have good chances for a payoff. As the calendar pages flip towards May 13 and 14, Mercury in Taurus, Mars in Virgo, and Pluto retrograde in Capricorn form a grand trine in earth. Plus, the Sun in Taurus is conjunct expansive Jupiter. This is auspicious for the earth signs but all of us will experience a sense of everything is going to be okay. On May 22, Mercury still in Taurus, crosses over slower bigger lucky Jupiter. Good news and opportunities occur especially for those of us born at the middle of any month. While Venus is retrograde we will want to consider certain relationships and the value they bring to our lives. In some cases people will leave and in other scenarios we will bond deeper because we have come to a new level of understanding with someone we truly care about. People from the past are sure to reappear but you don’t have to reconnect. There are no free rides or cheap deals while Venus is retrograde. ◆Here comes the Sun The Sun is moving through Taurus until 10:16 am May 20. While the Sun moves through Taurus our thoughts and actions are devoted to working toward a goal. Taurus is serious about getting the job done and does not dally with foolishness for the most part. While the Sun is moving through Taurus fellow earth signs Virgo and Capricorn will see their plans unfold more easily than other times of the year. Once the Sun moves into Gemini May 20 we will find ourselves juggling more than one task or project. Information gathering will be important to us. Some of us will feel scattered and find our focus has escaped through an open window. Gemini’s fellow air signs Libra and Aquarius are able to handle their tasks and the dual nature that most situations embody now. Fellow mutable signs Virgo and Pisces find blocks in their road of life while Scorpio is sure to experience opposition to their wishes and dreams at least until late June. The Sun and Mercury conjoined in Gemini sextile Uranus in Aries May 27 and 28. In the days around these aspects many of us will be drawn to those who need help. We will see better ways to solve problems that have previously seemed insurmountable. ◆What’s The Moon Up To Up There? The biggest news of the month would be the new Moon solar eclipse that occurs May 20 at zero degrees Gemini at 6:47 pm CDT. This eclipse is part of a cycle of eclipses that began in 984 and will end in 2228. It is conjunct the south node of the Moon. The zero degree represents new beginnings and Gemini is about ideas and communications. In months to come we are sure to hear about new and old ideas that will come to be accepted. Some of those ideas may include gay marriage or legalization of marijuana or some idea currently perceived as taboo. Since ideas are such an important theme for this eclipse, it is sure to affect the coming elections and the rhetoric that our leaders use in months to come. Those of us who celebrate birthdays around May 20 or who have zero degree points in our charts have big new beginnings in months to come. Jupiter will cross this point June 11 adding impetus to successful enterprises especially where networking, communication, and transportation are concerned. Before the new Moon occurs we have to get past the intense full Moon May 5 occurring at 10:35 pm CDT at sixteen degrees Scorpio. Scorpio is a passionate sign and emotions are sure to run high. Reactions will be skewed, and since Mercury in Aries is opposite Saturn retrograde in Libra, we will not be feeling like “life is just a bowl of cherries”. Our thoughts and feelings will feel serious and some of us will be feeling down right negative. Those born around November 7 are most affected as is anyone else born with planets around the 16th degree.
