Aquarius Horoscope for August 2018
Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
Of all the signs, you are most in the headlines. One reason is that you have just come through a full moon lunar eclipse on July 27 in Aquarius, 5 degrees, that helped you reorder your priorities and to see your positive qualities in a new light. Often we grow in maturity and talent, but fail to see that we are evolving in life, and eclipses help us catch up and point to a future direction. This full moon came conjunct warrior Mars and in very hard angle to Uranus in Taurus, indicating hard truths about the character of someone involved in your home.
If your birthday falls on January 24, plus or minus four days, you felt that eclipse directly. The same is true if you have the natal moon in Aquarius or Aquarius rising at 4 degrees, plus or minus five degrees.
You seem to have come to a final conclusion at that time. It may be you feel it’s time to move house, or make any other dramatic changes in your life, possibly in your career. Uranus in this position often points to a complete break. Eclipses bring a floodlight of truth to a situation, giving you an eureka moment where suddenly a relationship or situation that never quite made sense to you, bingo, suddenly does, for at eclipse time you were given the full picture.
Mars conjunct the moon is a painful aspect and points to a change in the domestic condition. Now that you recently started to host Uranus, the planet of sudden change in your house of home, a move, possibly to a completely different area, seems likely either now or in the near future.
The moon also points to your mother, and her well-being. If you haven’t called your mother in the past week, it would be good idea to do so now. One Aquarian told me her contractor suddenly walked out in the middle of a project, having been paid up front the full amount he had requested. He had come highly recommended, but clearly something must be going on in his life to suddenly walk out without warning. The house she is renovating is not nearly finished and she has no choice but to hire another contractor, incurring more costs.
Your ruler, Uranus, now in your home and property sector, can bring volatile, erratic situations – this one certainly fits the bill. She will have little choice but to go to court, but I do feel that Aquarians have such lovely aspects for seeing money at month’s end, it may be worth trying to get much of the unused money back at that time. She might be able to reason with her contractor to make a settlement. There is a lot of her savings at stake. If you are in a similar situation, the same advice fits for you.
Here is why I feel she – and you (if you have a need) – should not file in court too quickly. Venus will retrograde from October 5 to November 16, and Venus rules your solar home sector, as well as your ninth house, which rules the courts, so I would not want my friend to file with the courts then. Additionally, among the planets that obit close to earth, Mercury, Mars, and Venus are the ones we feel most directly when retrograde. Venus retrogrades rarely, and alas, that period is coming up in October.
Mars, your ruling planet, will slip back into Capricorn from August 12 to September 10, brilliantly lighting your tenth house of professional fame and honors. You may win a major award during this period or be given enviable publicity. Or, you may be offered a new prestigious position or promotion.
As you enter the month, Mars is still in Aquarius, a trend that stated on May 15. Ever since Mars entered Aquarius, Mars has been fighting with your ruler, Uranus, a trend that continues in August and most of September. Your hardest days coming up will be August 1 and September 18, days you must avoid with passionate determination.
The problem with this feud between these two Titans of the solar system is that they don’t have to be at exact mathematical points to feel the fallout. They can have a physical or emotional manifestation. Some Aquarians have needed surgery (especially if they are very active in sports), others argued with spouses, and still others made the decision to move or leave their jobs. There was a sense of having had enough, and not being able to go on any farther with a certain situation anymore.
When eclipses sweep through our lives, they are testing the strength of relationships and endeavors, to encourage you to fix them, support them, or leave them, but not to leave situations static.
Mars in Aquarius has put you in the lead. You have a high profile, and can call many of the shots, rather than wait for a partner or boss to approve your ideas. You love being unfettered and independent, and Mars is giving you that privilege. The problem is that Mars went retrograde on June 26 and won’t turn direct until August 27.
If you have felt like you walked into one of those children’s stories, where everyone in the castle was suddenly frozen in time, doing whatever they were doing but now not moving, with everyone around you as still as a statue, you can blame Mars. The situation will begin to thaw at month’s end, but in the meantime, you should not start any new endeavor, for if you do, you will be building a weak, lackadaisical Mars into the DNA of the relationship or venture’s DNA for the length of the term of the endeavor.
No planet returns to life instantly when it goes direct. It takes time. Little Mars will be unsteady, a little bleary eyed and dazed. He needs time to feel himself. I will sit with him, make him coffee and lunch too, but poor little Mars will still have sand in his eyes, and not be functioning too well at all. It will take him until October 8 to be at his former strength, but you can still see a big difference, with much more help from Mars, by next month. Mars is the planet that helps you to have the courage to take on large, complicated undertakings, and lead them to victory.
It is a privilege to have Mars in your sign, for you have so much control over events, but it does have its downside. You may have felt pressure to perform at peak capacity in the face of many obstacles. You are about to get four weeks of rest, for Mars is about to slide backward into Capricorn on August 12, to stay until September 10.
This would be the perfect time to take a week’s vacation at some point during the time Mars is in Capricorn. Make it a restful time off, with few demands on you.
On top of Mars retrograde, Mars’ little brother, Mercury, also went retrograde, turning in for a rest a month later, from July 25, and Mercury will turn direct until August 18. Mercury typically only retrogrades for three-and-a-half weeks, while his big brother Mars takes 10 weeks. You see why nothing is clicking lately, and won’t in August either.
You should not make any binding agreements yet, for the world is in flux. Don’t sign a contract or give your verbal agreement with a handshake. This is a time to review past deals and see where you can strengthen your relationships and ventures, not go into new ones yet. The best time to sign will be one of my favorite days for you to initiate an endeavor of importance next month, on September 11.
Do not buy any electronic equipment when Mercury is retrograde – do not buy a computer, smart phone, nor a car or a refrigerator. It is not wise to buy things with electronics or moving parts inside when Mercury is retrograde because Mercury rules the moving parts in those products. Remember to give a space of days AFTER the retrograde is over. I see too many of my friends jump on the day after the retrograde is over, and that is when Mercury acts his wildest.
The new moon solar eclipse on August 11 will be your big day to open talks with a present or proposed partner who you would be with you in business. If you were thinking of taking on an agent or publicist, or to hire an ad agency, or any collaborator to get you ahead, this new moon will open talks. Don’t make any decisions until early September.
If your birthday falls on February 8, plus or minus five days, you will feel the effects of the August 11 eclipse the most, and partnership matters will be beneficial for you.
Are you ready to get engaged? You will get serious about that plan now. If you are already married, you and you partner can draw up plans that you can work on together as you move forward. Think back to 1999 – what were you doing in August at that time. Eclipses repeat every 19 years, so looking back to August 1999 might give you a clue of a theme that might come up again.
Now, let’s talk about money. You have a glorious full moon on August 26, which will shine in your earned income sector. This new moon is exciting because it will be so warm and encouraging to you. It will receive good vibes from stable Saturn to help you feel more secure, and from surprise-a-minute Uranus, from your home sector, where good news will emanate too. Neptune in the same second house of earned income will contact Jupiter, the giver of gift and luck, from your professional tenth house of honors and awards.
These two planets, Jupiter and Neptune will be in rare, ideal contact on August 19 – the last time they will meet with any kind of contact until 2020. A trine, which is what they are creating now, is very special and more rare. Neptune and Jupiter are creating a link between your reputation and fine past work to Jupiter, in your salary house. Although these two planets have perfect aspect on August 19, the full moon, August 26 will give this aspect a bigger boost.
The week of August 26 will be a fantastic time to ask for a raise or negotiate a salary. The first three days that come directly after the new moon will be your strongest, August 27-29. If you are creative, or supervise or support creative people, you will be in an extra special place to absorb all of Neptune’s benefic blessings. Money seems to be on the way to you.
If anyone owes you money, this full moon may be when you can get paid, so by all means, ask for the money.
When it comes to love, Venus will be in fellow air-sign Libra – a perfect place for Venus to be to please you – and will be in ideal mathematical sync with sexy Mars in Aquarius. This is the best news you’ve received for your love life in months. August 7 is a Tuesday, but try to make it a special night out. If you are single, your charisma will be at an all-time high and few will be able to resist your charms. If you are attached, plan a wonderful dinner out in a very romantic restaurant.
Mars is in Aquarius, giving you a dominant role in all you do. It’s true that Mars is now retrograde, but it will turn direct at the end of this month. If you have been impatient to see progress, that’s understandable. Mars is the gas you put in your car to make it go, but when there’s no gas, you can’t get far. Mars is considered flat out of energy when retrograde. Sure, you can try to push your car, or walk to wherever you need to go, but that will take more time and energy that you will expend if you have to, but it will soon exhaust you. Mars will go direct on August 27 in Aquarius, and that will speed your progress and your schedule, not immediately, but by September.
Mercury was also retrograde since July 26, and will go direct on August 18, another reason for celebration. No planet turns on its energy full throttle when it goes direct, for like people, the planet is a little groggy when he awakens and needs time to regulate its orbit.
The full moon of July 27 last month was an eclipse, and it was not an easy one, so as you enter August you may be feeling rattled. The eclipse was in Aquarius, so if you felt that you were reaching the breaking point with a relationship, job, living situation, or other area of your life, you seem to be right. Suddenly things were certainly reaching critical mass late last month. You may still be picking up the pieces of what occurred as you enter August.
A problem with a contractor, landlord, designer, or person with whom you share your space could be particularly hard to untangle, for Mars will remain in hard angle to Uranus through September, with September 18 a bad day. This month, watch August 1 for an echo of what happened last May 15, plus or minus several days, and what might happen again September 18. If you are not focused on your physical home, you may be thinking about the welfare of one of your family members, such as a parent. With Mars and Uranus in an angry stance, tension will be the background music you will notice, so keep searching for a solution. With Mars heading for Uranus’ throat, watch what you say all month, for people will be quick to become angry and be volatile and out of sorts.
The eclipse of August 11 in your opposite sign of Leo will mark a better moment, for you will get help from a partner or collaborator. This person might be a headhunter, real estate broker, banker, lawyer, or other professional – you will know instantly who that person is when that person appears. This new moon eclipse may bring you the impetus to get engaged or wed, or to engage a professional in business to help you get ahead. You can talk, but don’t sign your document until next month, your best day to sign any papers being September 11.
The end of the month brings a gorgeous full moon in artistic Pisces. If you are involved with shaping a creative project, you may be able to make a tidy sum of money and at the same time, add a jewel to your crown. Remarkably, the full moon will brilliantly shine in the same house as Neptune, the planet of the arts, and although far from the moon in degree, Neptune will signal Jupiter within one degree, considered a tight aspect, and very significant for you. You seem to hit all high points the end of August – money rolls in, and applause for former work well done will be nearly assured.
Your best day for love and fun will be August 7, when Venus and her lover, Mars make a decisive aspect that will encourage romance, especially for you, air sign Aquarius. If you are single, go out on this Tuesday – it’s a rare day, and you are in the perfect place for the twinkling stars above to bring about a fateful meeting. Attached, this day is for you, too. The rest of the month shows lots of opportunities to give and receive love, from August 6 to September 9.
