YOUR HOROSCOPE BY SUSAN MILLER
August is made for sharpening your communication skills, enjoying little quick trips, and generally giving yourself permission to slow down before your busy September starts up. If you love to do research, write, or compose music, for example, you can, for you might find the solitude of working alone a peaceful and soothing setting perfect for your spirit and your soul. Soon, as you get into the flow of the project, the world will drop away and you will be completely enveloped in the joy of your work.
Last month, you experienced two eclipses. The first one was a solar new moon eclipse in Cancer on July 12, and it may have brought you an opportunity to increase your income. Two weeks later, you went through a more difficult full moon lunar eclipse in Aquarius on July 27. That eclipse seems to have brought you an awareness of a secret that someone held from you, and now that you know what it is, you have a completely different view of that person. As you enter August, you may still be thinking about that unexpected, jarring revelation you may have received after the July 27 eclipse appeared.
If someone lied to you and you now found out, it has to feel like a devastating betrayal. Eclipses are known to bring truth to the surface suddenly and often in an accidental off-hand way. Because this July 27 eclipse was such a difficult one with the tender moon conjunct angry Mars, and both in a bad angle (90 degrees) to unpredictable Uranus, you had the making of a hot situation. News likely stopped you in your tracks. This eclipse seemed to have brought an emotional time that marked an ending.
Mars and his brother, Mercury, are both retrograde most of this month, so it is never a wise time to sign a contract with these planets out of phase. Mercury controls negotiation and contractual agreements, and just as importantly, Mercury is Gemini’s ruling planet. Mercury’s job is to take good care of you, but when he is sleeping in retrograde, he can’t live up to that part of his job description. If you sign papers prior to August 18 (the date Mercury goes direct this month), you will have to renegotiate the contract later anyway, or, worse, the endeavor will never fulfill the promise you envisioned. I would like you to leave a space of as many days as you can muster from August 18, at least until Mars goes direct on August 27.
This month delays will benefit you, so although you’d like to rush, you can’t, and shouldn’t. In hindsight you will see why the universe was holding you back, for you will see the very delays that frustrated you have been a blessing in disguise. The universe is, and has been, protecting you.
The next eclipse due August 11 in Leo 19 degrees will be an easier eclipse and will open a new pathway for you. This solar eclipse, a new moon, may bring an exciting writing or speaking opportunity to showcase your skills in communication, whether that be in writing, editing, speaking, teaching, negotiation, researching, or translation. Actors should do well, too.
A spectacular full moon in Pisces will occur in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement on August 26. Your hard work will be rewarded at this time, for this will be one of your most important career moments of 2018. Accolades should flow to you and you will likely be receiving a lot of positive press attention at that time.
You may alternatively direct this energy into telecommunication, software or app development, logistics (shipping, courier, priority mail services, postal delivery), as well as in all realms of transportation and travel. One of these areas will glitter for you, and news will come within a week after the date of the new moon solar eclipse, August 11. It is very likely you will travel as a result of this eclipse and go to a close-by town.
Additionally, you may be doing an event with your sister, brother, or a cousin, or, you may be going into business or buying property together – you get the idea. The third house, where this eclipse is based, rules siblings, so if you have one, alternatively you may hear special new about what news your sibling is making, so check in after the eclipse arrives August 11.
Now let’s look closer. This eclipse of August 11 will be in Aquarius, and the planet that rules Aquarius is Uranus. To find out how things will work out for you in the final resolve, we need to look at the conversation Uranus is having with other planets at the time, and happily, Uranus and Saturn will be beautifully oriented. This is suggesting this eclipse will bring a surprise offer that will lead to comforting financial stability for you.
If your birthday falls on June 9, plus or minus five days, this eclipse will benefit you in a big way. The same is true if you have Gemini rising 19 degrees or the natal moon in Gemini at that degree, plus or minus five degrees. Also, look to see if you have a natal planet in Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius at 19 degrees, also plus or minus five degrees.
In terms of romance, your best day will come early, August 7, when Venus and Mars will be in perfect trine, and astrologically, that is a very loving aspect. Actually, I like Monday, August 6, the day before, even MORE for you, when the transiting moon will favor you by being in Gemini. Venus will be in Libra, and Mars will be in Aquarius, two air signs like yours, so whether you are single or married, you must go out on Monday, August 6, your most enchanting romantic night of the month.
Venus will be in Libra from August 6 to September 9. Sexy Mars will be in Aquarius August 1 to 12. You will be very magnetic during both these periods, for it is clear, in August Venus and Mars are adding excitement to your love life. It’s also a perfect time to buy new wardrobe items for the coming season.
Now let’s talk about money for a moment. Mars has been traveling through Aquarius since May 16, but will dip backward into Capricorn during his prolonged journey retrograde. Mars will remain in Capricorn for several weeks, from August 12 until September 10 (even though Mars will go direct August 27). So from mid-August to mid-September, you will spend more money than you have in a long time. Do your best to hold the line, but I don’t think you will have much control over this period.
You will be writing checks and possibly need to put some expenses on credit cards. If you have a business, you may need to use the line of credit your bank gave you or to get a loan that you will pay back later. From now until December 2020, it will be helpful to know that you should not borrow more than you need, for with Saturn in your solar eighth house of other people’s money, you may take longer than you estimate to pay it back. As the axiom goes, you have to spend money to make money, and this seems to be true for you now.
As you enter the second half of August, you have an outstanding outlook for career success, for everything you’ve been doing over past several years seems to be coming to an exciting crest. The universe has a host of career goodies to shower over you as reward for having worked so hard and so smart, and if you work in the arts or entertainment, having created such beauty and excellence.
Your first clue that your star is on the rise will come on or very close to August 19, thanks to a rare and friendly interplay between Jupiter in your sixth house of work projects, and Neptune in your prestigious tenth house of career fame and honors. This glorious friendship between Jupiter and Neptune has been going throughout 2018, but now these two planets are meeting in harmony to exact degree. Neptune is the planet of the silver image, and that image refers to your face, out in the world for many to see, thanks to a new project you get involved with very soon.
Yet professional news is about to get even bigger and better! Watch the full moon of August 26 in Pisces 3 degrees for a culmination of a fantastic, celebratory career victory. There has not been a lot of dazzling full moons in general in 2018 – this one deserves five gold stars.
A golden triangle will appear, linking Uranus (happy surprise) to the Sun (ruling your communications sector, but also bringing in your family and luck with property and home-related news) and Saturn (long-range financial stability). We have had a number of golden triangles this year, but next year we won’t, so don’t take these rare gifts from the universe for granted. This full moon comes packed with so much joy.
The fact that this full moon of August 26 is in Pisces is important because the modern day ruler of Pisces is Neptune, and Pisces’ ancient ruler was Jupiter. As just described above, Jupiter and Neptune, the two planets that rule Pisces, will be in gorgeous sync, boosting the power of that full moon of August 26 even more. Neptune is the planet of the arts, so it seems that a creative project that you are finishing, or now getting approval to start, is what is making you so happy in the last week of August.
Wait – there is more. We have to look at the conversations Neptune and Jupiter are having with the other planet, if any. The news is remarkable. Neptune will be in tight conversation with Pluto in your eighth house of finances, suggesting a big deal may be coming down the pike and being crystalized after Mars goes direct August 27 (the day after the full moon, August 26, a Sunday).
At the same time, Jupiter will be speaking with Saturn in heavenly trine position (the best aspect you can get), another signal that you will get good money that will provide you with a large measure of financial security. All the pieces of your puzzle are falling into place, dear Gemini – put the champagne on ice, as it looks like you’ll want to open a bottle at month’s end.
At this full moon, in the last week of August, you may be interviewed by the press and in newspapers, on television and on the radio, or you may be offered your own TV or radio show, podcast, website, or blog. This is an exciting full moon and seems to bring you a landmark career moment. You may get a promotion, a dazzling offer for a new responsible position from a competing firm, or, because your ability with communication is being prized so highly now, you may go on a book tour, drawing crowds to hear about your newest critically acclaimed work.
Full moons this special are as rare as diamonds. Don’t be on vacation in the last week of August – you need to be at your usual base to take full advantage of all that is coming to you.

As you enter August, if you are given a contract at the end of July, it will be important NOT to sign in early month. The eclipse of late last month, July 27, was fraught with tension, and Mercury, the planet that rules contracts, was clashing sharply with Uranus, planet of unexpected news. On August 1, Mars and Uranus will be at a high noon, toe-to-toe conflict, so will be a difficult day you will want to avoid at all costs.
Additionally, Mercury is also your ruler, and will continue to retrograde until August 18 (a trend that started July 26). This means you should put off putting your signature on any paperwork until August’s end, giving space of many days after August 18.
Mars is also still retrograde, so if you are hoping to finish a business deal, it still will be hard to find accord, or to even get in touch with the people whose decisions you need to start. Mars will go direct on August 27, so the last week of August will be your best, and you will cap off your deals then.
Quick short travel may come up on the eclipse, August 11, or you may be beginning another important writing, speaking, or media project. Jupiter will be in ideal sync with Neptune, so you may very well be on television, or on an Internet interview, and things will go exceedingly well for your growing reputation.
Alternatively, with Mars in your ninth house, you may be heading to college soon, or to graduate school, and be excited about the classes you will take.
Think back to July and August 1999 – the eclipses of this month will be in the same sign and degree as those that occurred back then on July 27 and August 11. What were you doing then? Although nothing in life ever repeats precisely because the other planets have since moved on, if you can think back, you might be able to capture a clue of a topic of discussion that might come up now at the August 11 solar eclipse.
A spectacular full moon in Pisces will occur in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement on August 26. Your hard work will be rewarded at this time, for this will be the most important career full moon of 2018 for you. You will hear the thunderous applause, and you will likely be getting a lot of press attention at that time.
As an aside, although your career will be making the headline news in your life in August, you may also be focusing on your living situation at the full moon, August 26. A rare and beautiful golden triangle will appear in the night sky, linking Saturn (stability), and surprise-a-minute Uranus, both conversing with the Sun in your house of home and family, completing the triangular shape. This may mean you will be with your family in the days LEADING up to this weekend, August 25-26, and feel the warmth of their love and the giggly joy of playing with children.
Alternatively this could also suggest that an answer to a home or family-related desire or plan might surface quite suddenly at month’s end, when an option comes up. You will need to react quickly, and by next month on the new moon in Virgo September 9, your course will be set and in the weeks to come, your plan will take shape.
If you need money to make your home-related project happen, the funds will appear if you look for them. Don’t borrow more than you need, however, because with Saturn in your eighth house of credit and loans, it may take you longer to repay a loan than you estimate. Still, this full moon will give you hugely celebratory news in both your career and home-related news.
Mars, which has been languishing in retrograde for weeks, will turn direct on August 27, a sure sign that the pace of life is about to pick up noticeably. Mercury, your ruler, will have gone direct by now (August 18), and you will be ready, willing, and able to start September with energy and drive. The world loves your work, and that will be obvious now.
