i knew it was coming

two sources: one was an alert from the local government. there was an emergency meeting last night and after the meeting, emergency alert was issued. but the sky didn't look ominous in the morning and seemed to care a cent about the warming issued last night. then then i saw the sky. it was darken in the northwest. the clouds were dark and ominous. there was a chaos inside the clouds. they held tight and there was a darkening core in the clouds. the light outside the clouds was still there, making the dark clouds looking more threatening. i sped up and rushed home. i arrived home, hugging myself for getting in safely. i didn't want to be caught in the downpour.
20 minutes at home. then the downpour started. it burst down. raindrops dashed downward, hitting the trees outside the window loudly and vehemently. winds blew. i guess the winds came from the air wildly disturbed by the rain drops dashing downwards. the treetops swayed. the rain made vehement noises for five minutes before i thought i needed to count how many more minutes it was going to last. i was under the impression that the downpour would last a littlbe longer. there was no sign of letting up. the downpour just persisted. it was loud and ferocious. then it slackened a little bit. the noise was not so loud. just can't say how many degrees the vehemence dropped. but the reduction was tangible. then it was a gradual thing. the rain went down bit by bit. five minutes later, it seemed to have run the course and winds were gone. from a to z, the downpour lasted about 15 minutes,
ten minutes after the downpour vanished, some birds began to chirp timidly and hesitatingly. one or two birds tried just a few quiet notes, then dropped out. a low thunder rumbled somewhere in the distance. the birds became quiet again. silence reigned for a while. then, a siren swirled somewhere in a street far away. a few birds tried a few notes again. thunder rolled not so angrily. just like a weak and embarrased afterthought after a blasting rage.
