Horoscopes for the Week of May 9th – May 15th
Posted by Admin | Published on May 9, 2018
We’re headed (no pun intended) for a complicated New Moon next Tuesday at 24 degrees of Taurus. Algol, the demonic binary star, aligns with this New Moon – and with Donald Trump’s Midheaven. She’s a real troublemaker known to cast spells of violence, brutality, danger, disaster, and general mayhem. You’ll recognize her image in the constellation of Perseus as the decapitated head of Medusa – the evil spirit with snakes for hair. Her appearance is terrifying. According to myth, anyone who looks at her is immediately turned to stone.
If you have placements in your chart within five degrees of 24 of Taurus, and you’re basically living your life striving to be the best you can be – despite some inevitable tough setbacks – the “demonic” influence is greatly subdued. In fact Algol’s influence can be very positive in the absence of evil or shady intent. You could be the one who “decapitates” poisonous influences that arise from collective unconscious – or from your own subconscious mind. You could be the hero and savior in a set-up otherwise headed for disaster.
Today, a week ahead of the New Moon, you can see the makings of a potentially destructive scene moving into position – or, looking on the bright side, a opportunity for some heroic intervention. What spews from the primal recesses of the collective mind- especially in the United States – is dark, unintegrated, and savage-like. I single out the United States because as a country the U.S. is undergoing “a time of reckoning.” Pluto is returning to its natal place in the U.S. birth chart. Donald Trump’s chart and the U.S. chart are intricately intertwined. He is the perfect president at the perfect time if you look at it from a transformative perspective. It’s hard to imagine anyone more capable of reflecting back to us the lies America has been telling itself about itself for the past 242 years.
Pluto always pushes for a “moment of truth,” a more honest appraisal of strengths and weaknesses, a concerted effort to remove the distortions and to step into our full power once the distortions are removed. The “Pluto return” is a once every 240 year event – a fated, critical turning point in history. Because Pluto is a very slow mover the transformation process for the U.S. is triggered through 2025 the struggle for the American soul is strenuous and exhausting.
The dominant theme this week seems to be “holding fast to your center” so you can weather the intensifying, outer-world storms in ways that make you stronger. The personal opportunity is to overthrow old patterns and ways of being that promotes stagnation. The closer you come to holding fast to the part of you that endures forever (your soul) the freer you are to destroy, rebuild, and re-invigorate your life.
On April 30th, 2018 a Scorpio full Moon influence triggered the release of personal demons that had been hanging out just beneath your surface of consciousness – for many years maybe. For the past month we have been engaged (consciously or unconsciously) in a process of cleaning out the scarier parts of our neglected self – the demon-infested, carefully avoided, haunted “basement” (or attic) of our mind and heart. Old obsessive attachments that controlled our life were unsettled then, shaken loose, and made ready for release. Giving up a once treasured possession that defined an era of your life might be the culmination of a long struggle to comes to terms with loss.
It’s likely you’re now untethered in a way you haven’t previously been. Anything is possible.
Uranus and Mars combine to arrange for something unsettled, uncertain, and life changing. The Sun and Jupiter challenge us to restructure our priorities to align with what’s true for us now. Juno and the North Node bring opportunities to indulge our passion. The lights are turned up to “brilliant” as Mercury aligns with Uranus by the end of the week. We acquire X-ray vision and the ability to see through what once blocked the truth.
Mars reaches the end of it’s trek through Capricorn. More rebellious, in-your-face, dynamic ways of being begin to take hold as Capricorn gives way to the sign of Aquarius. Being “socially acceptable” moves closer to the bottom of your priority list.
Lastly I’ll mention the tendency to depend more on your physical body and a deeper connection with it for your sense of identity. Possessions, relationships, and your job hold less sway. Venus in Gemini rules the Taurus Sun. Were restless, adaptable, torn, and likely to engage in mind-expanding, life-changing conversations.
Thanks, as always, for reading.
ARIES (March 21-April 21)
A commitment to forging a path in the direction of worldly success and financial achievement is being created and set in place. You may need to undo something or leave it behind in order to move yourself into a more advantageous space. It is advised that you pay very close attention to the pros and cons of every step you take and every decision you make. This is serious because you’re in the process of creating an environment in which to express your true passion through a dominant, leadership role. It seems you have time to consider and reconsider options as Saturn retrogrades through Capricorn until September 6th. Mars, your chart ruler changes signs at the end of the week. I’m talking to you when I mention that Mars will push the boundaries of what you’ve previously held to be true for yourself. A more rebellious, in-your-face, dynamic ways of being begins to take hold. Hopefully being “socially acceptable” moves closer to the bottom of your priority list. But I see you as a more seasoned, effective, “grown-up rebel” as opposed to the bomb-throwing teenager who creates distractions to avoid a critical confrontation with himself.
TAURUS (April 21-May 21)
Venus in Gemini indicates that you are in a period of loving what your learning, drinking it in, and craving more. A mind-expanding experience takes you into some pretty intense territory but it seems you may be finding your rhythm and the source of your ability to stabilize yourself. On many levels learning, communicating, understanding, and expanding into the the depths of some field of knowledge you love fuels your survival. As long as it’s meaningful, practically applicable, philosophically aligned with your instincts, and supportive of your need to explore and roam freely into the deeper recesses of the mind and heart, it endures the test of time. If not you may lose interest. It seems your relationships may be testing your ability to be decisive and to adjust and adapt to what is. It all gets easier mid-June when Venus moves into the sign of Cancer. Expect to be freed of some long lasting conflict about your future by the end of the week.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
My nervous system is revved up just looking at Mercury (your chart ruler) closing in on an exact alignment with Uranus. It’s potentially mind-blowing. In fact it actually can be experienced as a shock or overload accompanied by sudden enlightenment. Something obvious you’ve missed may become perfectly clear. The challenge is to share your process with the “group.” Spread the intellectual freedom around no matter how disruptive it might be. It is important and nearly impossible not to experiment with your power to break through blockages very quickly, to upend what makes others comfortable, to push the envelope, and to make some noise that may or may be welcomed. You are the consummate outsider now. Pretending to fit in is futile. It’s not your job. Your job is a challenging one because it can leave you out on a limb with no net. In general, a rare opportunity to shake things up for the benefit of humanity is coalescing. The circuits get overloaded if there is no outlet for your rebellious intellectual energy. You can be irritable or you can be effective.
CANCER (June 21-July 21)
The nature of relationships force you to grow-up in ways you might prefer not to. Recognizing that the confining situations and difficult choices you face reflect something confining and unresolved inside of you is half the battle. The dependent, over-grown, fearful child within might be reflected in a partner who refuses to face and deal with a harsh reality. Making hard choices even when you’re afraid may be necessary. It’s time. Pluto, Saturn, Black Moon Lillith, Vesta, and Pholus – a powerhouse of consolidated energy – makes it especially painful to stick with old patterns and frustrations you’ve probably endured for a long time. It may be time to say no to yourself the next time you feel like lashing out in the direction of a partner or another. The impending new Moon has the potential to set you free of old demons that haunt you from the deepest recesses of your mind and heart. It would be nice for you to arrange for some magical healing over the next seven days. It seems you’ll be especially receptive to releasing something old, persistent, and entrenched. July is a time to welcome a grown-up lover into your space.
LEO (July 21-Aug 21)
Uranus, the great awakener and freedom-loving agent of change hits your solar midheaven next Tuesday. No longer will it feel right to confine yourself to repeating the challenges and successes you’ve aspired to in the past. It’s time for an update, something less predictable, more challenging – and most importantly, more fun. Something seems to hold you back (fear most likely) from making more space for yourself. If you’re not getting frustrated with it, those you love may be. They’ve witnessed the fire within slowly fading as you continue to psych yourself up for something that doesn’t quite ring true in the moment. You could benefit from adding more fuel to the fire. You could benefit from a change in life direction that encompasses more of you and the purpose you were meant to live. A period of destabilization brought on by some introspection, questioning, reconsideration, and honest discussion could be very healthy for you now. At the very least, sticking with what you’re doing may require a few tweaks. But its more likely a major overhaul of some kind would be much more rewarding for you and those who love you.
VIRGO (August 21-Sep 21)
It’s sometimes hard for Virgo to figure out how to inject more enjoyment into their life. Basically it may seem irrelevant given that being responsible and useful, healing, and hardworking – and doing it all perfectly of course – seems to suck up all the available oxygen in the room. In your downtime – in the space left between tasks – you may discover or re-discover what you actually love to do. Being alone and uninterrupted moves you into a magical space. The longer you can protect that space, the better. It’s the best place you can possibly be and that will be the case until November of this year. Traveling to a foreign place – maybe by yourself – could be interesting. Navigating through the deepest most mysterious recesses of your mind and heart could be an interesting, enjoyable experience as well. Something more adventurous might be calling. The further you travel away from anything familiar the closer you connect with the “bedrock essence” of who you are. Seeing all the Capricorn planets amassed in your 5th house of enjoyment, I would say its your primary responsibility between now and the beginning of November to infuse more joy, adventure, and love into your life.
LIBRA (September 21-Oct 20)
The future may be your central point of interest at this time. A choice is implied. Two options. Two opinions. A pull in two different directions. It is likely neither choice is bad. It is also likely that a life direction will be determined by mid-June. But this week Mercury moves into a conjunction with Uranus. This implies intellectual freedom, a freeing of the mind that clarifies your thinking, a breakthrough for a partner or partnership, a conclusion of some old conflict, a sudden awakening involving your role within relationships and the future. As the weekend winds down you may feel yourself moving into the realm of something more experimental and intense. This could involve the usual “sex, death, and taxes” realm of experience. It could also involve something that begins to unravel old, confining, psychological patterns in love. A test involving trust – how much do you trust a partnership and how can you stabilize it for the long haul may be issues looming just over the horizon. When taking a relationships the next deeper level allow yourself the freedom to experiment with different forms of pleasure or unusually enlightened approaches to long term financial security and management.
SCORPIO (October 21 – November 21)
There is most likely someone in your life that is allowing you the freedom and giving you the support you need to work through some very complicated issues. It is likely someone who is patient, able to simplify, to see the world through the eyes of an artist, to identify what’s most important, and to cultivate what is soothing and enduring. If you possess the unsettled nature of most Scorpios you may have the good fortune to attract someone stable and predictable. The contrast between Scorpio and Taurus is extreme. This is a story I tell to explain the difference between them: Scorpio is the woman who owns a mansion on a hill, filled with priceless objects, surrounded by vast expanses of land, and beautiful gardens. One day she walks outside to survey all she has accumulated and says to herself “Is this really all there is? Something is missing.” In contrast Taurus is the guy with a modest house and postage stamp size lot. In the evening he sits on his small porch, leans back, drinks a beer, and says to himself “I’ve really got it made.” He feels the contentment and satisfaction coursing through every cell in his body. Admittedly it’s an extreme example and people are more complicated than the story illustrates. Still it may be time to reconsider the value of the stable people you attract into your life and to more deeply understand and appreciate their contribution to your life.
SAGITTARIUS (November 21- December 21)
It’s all about getting down to the essence of who you are these days – minus the distractions, detours, distortions, and disjointed, irrelevant nonsense. This is important information for a Sagittarius whose desire is to expand beyond any limit that has ever been set for them. They can lose themselves in far away places – in interesting convoluted philosophies, religious affiliations, in graduate school, or in the newest methods for expanding consciousness They can live in some imagined future and lose touch with the present moment. They can transcend their body and become untethered. But the essence of who they are is to be grounded in something ungrounded – something sublime that defies the ability to put it into words – something indescribably beautiful, loving, compassionate, and connected to the vital flow of life. Art and music stabilize and ground a Sagittarian. If you notice someone who presents themselves with otherworldly grace and elegance – seems to be “a work of art in motion”, un-possessable but receptive and compassionate, mysterious but comfortingly familiar – that could be a Sagittarian stripped down to her essence. Sagittarius finds time alone these days very nourishing, grounding, and clarifying.
CAPRICORN (December 21-January 21)
There are opportunities within the realm of relationships for an elevated conversation. It may be time to break old patterns that serve no purpose other than to maintain a civilized distance between you. It’s time to break through the unofficial “rules” that have you censoring your comments, sticking to the script, and relating on some superficial level that is getting difficult to sustain. There is a hunger for something deeper, more meaningful, and true. By the end of the weekend it is likely something will be clarified, concluded, or resolved. A breakthrough is indicated. The end of an old conflict that began in May of 2010 is indicated. Most likely it involves family, roots, the home, or the past – maybe all of the above. This looks like an important development in your quest to cultivate a love that lasts, to infuse your life with more joy and satisfaction, and to stimulate some creativity that’s lain dormant for awhile. This week signals a chance for a new beginning in love – a new beginning that is simpler, more relaxed, and more closely aligned with your most natural way of being,
AQUARIUS (January 21-February 21)
Inspiration may be hard to come by these days. A mysterious “heaviness” combined with some general difficulty in “getting it together” keeps you plodding rather than soaring to the inspiring heights you might vaguely remember. You may be looking for a shiny object to attract your attention when the inspiration your looking for is most likely to be found along the course of something routine or even morbid. Death, mourning and loss could inspire you in some way. Vesta, the goddess known for keeping a fire raging in the hearth of every home, symbolizes the fire within and keeping the passion for life alive. Expect some passionate inspiration to be be ignited for you this week. Expect to find something you didn’t expect to find where you find it. Expect to be able to access something thats been very hard to access for awhile. Expect life to feel a little more exciting and purposeful as you decide (maybe) to create something you feel inspired to create.
PISCES (February 21-March 21)
It seems important to invest some time in beautifying your place of residence this week. Your fourth house, the foundation of your life, could stand to undergo a makeover. Whether you embark on something very simple or something more involved, the results will advantage you in unexpected ways. A beautification project might serve to remind you of the past and a lost connection. Essentially it could reconnect you with the essence of who you are. Looking ahead a little this could be important in terms of preparation for something more joyful and loving – a love affair possibly. Eleven days from now the care and attention attention you shower on your home could advantage you. It’s not necessarily the appearance of your space that matters. More important is the connection to your essential self that a home beautification effort supports. There’s a big difference between love affairs that begin when two grounded, self-aware people are involved and when they’re not. For you it seems timely and important to remind yourself of who you are and what you love.
